Yeah, he wasn't nearly as bad as many made him out to be. Still a somewhat disappointing first pick, and definitely should have taken Luka. Shai wasn't in consideration for any team at #1, but he was the best big of all those highly rated guys coming out, except JJJ who also likely wouldn't have been in consideration for any other team at #1. WCJr may be close now, but neither was he.

Ayton probably goes #2 (3 at very worst) for any team. And probably near half the teams, if not more would have taken him #1 if they needed a C.

He was disappointing, though to me, and my expectations, he was much better than I expected in years 2 and 3 (even though he regressed defensively in year 3) but he still didn't see to have the motivation consistently, and somehow declined defensively, even though he put up solid #s.

I bashed him heavily his first season, moreso than anyone, pissing off many, but he obviously worked hard to improve defensively in his first offseason and offensively his second, but after not getting a max offer and getting matched anyway, seemed to lose some motivation night in and night out. He didn't really deserve it even though many thought he did after his playoff run...even Paul said h would get the bag.

Thank goodness not our worry any longer. I can easily tolerate any miscues by Nurk because the guy plays hard and has decent BBIQ.

"He’s an elite rebounder when there’s no one in his vicinity" A lot of us said this for years and were gaslit into thinking we were watching a different DA. I don't think theres much bias there with blazer fans since they didn't draft him and didn't have an emotional attachment to the Deandre experience. wouldn't it be fun to compare notes from a non bias source like other blazer fans?
