The thing is people have always expected the Celtics to no show at least one time. But I didn't expect it to be like that.

Now if the Mavs can win game 5 in Boston, man.... might be looking at a Cleveland/GS type situation.

Honestly, my first reference was the '96 Finals. Bulls up 3-0. Coast Game 4. Lose 5. Got to go back to Chicago to close out Game 6.

Pretty ugly, but as Wookie alludes to, the '96 Bulls lost Games 4 and 5 by a combined 32 points, and those performances haven't affected their legacy. So I think this game will go unremembered as long as the Celts right the ship.

That said, between their lack of a GOAT candidate and winning 64 games during the regular season, rather than 70ish, I doubt that this year's Celtics will go down as an all-time great team.

Interesting. I assume it is just the full time gig I would think he still does cameos. Likely didn’t want to be with a new crew since inside is no more.

Why is it wow? He never needed to be on TV, but he clearly enjoyed spending time with the people he worked with, and he just happened to be making a whole heap of money by doing it. He clearly had the dream job that he didn't need to do to provide to his family, so it makes it a lot easier for someone to walk away from it if he doesn't want to restart with another crew. Not many people are fortunate enough to have that option, but absolutely a respectable decision if you are in a position to make that decision, because it just opens up that position for someone else who may want it more.

Its still a big deal that after 24 years of doing the job and add to it he would be the hottest FA in media if WB loses the NBA rights, that he would just walk away. The best that does it might not be doing it anymore. But we will see if he actually retires. FWIW most people doing what he does make a lot of money. Kenny probably has made more at TNT then he ever did in the NBA. So not sure anyone calling national games or on a pregame or post game show has financial worries that would lead them to sticking with the job longer then they want to.

Yeah if people have been paying attention to Charles, he has been hinting at this for years now. He has said it in numerous interviews that he wont be doing this forever. Even in his last contract negotiations, he said he would only come back till the renewal period. Now that TNT might be completely losing the deal, it's an easy out.

In a way though, I don't feel it's completely over with Chuck. I think he is too predominant of a voice to totally just walk away into obscurity. I do feel in a year or so when he recharges his batteries, I can see a Draft Kings/FanDuel etc coming to him to do a podcast with money that he can't refuse.

So the Celtics put up another championship banner.

The first time in a very long time, that I have not watched a single playoff game from start to finish, and only resorted to watching highlights on youtube and I feel I haven't missed a single great game.

The Wolves/Nuggets had some very good games, and the Mavs/Wolves were a fun series.

But yeah, otherwise this year was weak sauce. I believe you could form a full all-star roster with injured/MIA players.

How much does it suck to be Grant Williams, Marcus Smart, and Ime Udoka right this second?

I hate the fact that the owners get presented the trophy first. Lot of ego involved to have the owner be the first person to touch the trophy. I know he spent a lot of money, but signing checks isn't nearly as much work as literally every other individual in that organization put in this year.

Why is the NBA so stupid? Always making complications… how is Tatum not the Finals MVP? Clearly the #1 option, primary playmaker, averaged more in every category for the series. So dumb.

Missed the game cause I was busy. But another blowout, as expected… don’t think I missed much. The 3-day spacing of these games was blasphemous. Glad the ratings sucked, cause a lot of things sucked about the presentation. Hopefully the move back to NBC fixes things, and please hurry on up with these 3 week rounds and turn it into a classic 2 day spacing between games. I hardly even remember who the final 4 were, let alone who Bulls lost to in the play-in.

The first 3 games where the series was actually decided:

Tatum shot 36%

Brown shot 55%
- In the most important game of the series (game 3, Dallas must win at home) he lead the team in rebounds, assists, and was 2nd in points - only one shy of Tatum on 4 fewer shots.

That while being the primary defender on Luka AFAIK.

Brown deserved it.

Same. Posted on the GB that I can’t believe there hasn’t been an owner savvy enough to back away, let the players get it first, and get the nice positive PR bump that would easily come with it.
