I was thinking about this game and I have to be honest: Indiana's coaching is horrible.

Clark is drawing defenders way past the 3 point line, yet the team doesn't use that gravity to their advantage. The ball movement is atrocious.

Boston looks completely lost and unsure of herself even when she gets the ball deep down low. It doesn't help that when she gets the ball it's usually a bail out pass where she has 3 secs left on the clock go force something up

Martin is a black hole on offense. It doesn't help that they seemingly don't run any sets that create movement or off ball actions to free up players. Can't blame her for chucking when the coach doesn't have them in a pro level offense.

Basically, it's bad basketball all around and it doesn't help that they are not very big on size or particularly athletic so their defense is complete ass water. Like really bad.

They looked like unorganized kids playing against a well oiled machine last night in the Sun.

After she threw the team under the bus last night, I've seen enough. You don't do that.

I got Jim Boylen vibes last night, when he pulled all 5 starters from the Bulls and then ripped them after in the post-game. Although last night it was only 4 starters for Chrissie Sides.

At any rate, the comments here are exactly correct. Every good WNBA team has the same game plan defensively against the Fever, which is to either take the ball out of Clark's hands or make her shoot a 9.9 difficulty level 3 pointer, by swarming her defensively. Thirteen games into the season, Indiana still seems to have no idea how to respond to that tactic.

It seemed like last night they came out right away and set a few screens for Clark, although her shooting was tepid. Then everyone seemed to forget about that, and there was a lot of sending her to stand in the corner.

Yeah, Aliyah! Post touches! Don’t lean on Caitlin so damned hard, Sides…where has this been? Kelsey on fire.

I’ve missed a few, but good to see the ball in others’ hands and not asking Clark to do everything.

Improvement’s coming, but maybe watch the Sky too. Like the Fever they have a bright future.

As for our Bulls…I’ve retired from games and stopped talking about them after the trade deadline. Vowed to continue til they’re sold or AK is fired…so it’s gonna be a real long time.

Outside of maybe 3 short posts about the actual team (FO), I stay connected to our board as you may or may not have noticed talking about the W, off topic stuff, around the league, prospects. Just my online community for too long to jump ship from that.

This has been Sides' game plan all along, it's just that Boston has been off to a slow start this year. Obviously she shook that off tonight in a big way. Kudos to Mitchell tonight also, she was a fireball out there.

Hopefully the Fever can get some wins on some of these .500 type teams, since they can't seem to match up with the elites like the Sun and Liberty.

I’ve missed a number of games, but from what I’ve seen, this was by far the most committed they’ve been trying to get her the ball.

Well, they've had a few practices now, so the game plan is going to be clearer. Also, Boston was having success with it, so the enthusiasm/commitment jumped too. Like a feedback loop.

Today's game against the Sky is the best I've seen the Fever play. Having Aliyah Boston go from outright scrub (she was scandalously bad opening the season) to stud makes a huge difference! Plus, the team's overall spacing is better, and while they're still crap defensively, at least they were aggressive and hard-working crap.

On the downside, they continue to ask Clark to do too much. She can't be Luka, at least not at this stage of her career, in this league. She can't create shot after shot for herself at will. She needs more help. Some of that is on her, improving her movement off the ball and understanding how to use her teammates better when rubbing off defenders. But not all. Mitchell and Smith have their heads down when they have the ball, and while Boston is somewhat more of a willing passer, she's not very good at the task.

Still, progress. Plus that game was good for the league -- a nationally televised showcase that was competitive, hard fought, and well played, with all three of the well-known rookies doing a lot of good things on the court.

This is the Boston most ppl expected to see from Game 1. She was way too good to be deferring like that. I liked what I saw from her and CC this game, they're figuring out how to play with each other.

Indiana doesn't have the personnel defensively, they're just not that lengthy or athletic, but they have skilled players offensively so they should be able to hang with most teams outside of the top tier in most games unless their shooting goes kaput
