DAL/TOR
Dallas trades Dwight Powell, Tim Hardaway Jr, OMax Prosper, 2025 TOR 2nd
Toronto trades Bruce Brown
Toronto picks up Brown's option to snag a couple rebuilding pieces in Prosper, and get their own 2nd rounder returned in a tank year.
Dallas trades a deadweight expiring and a deadweight 2-year $4M/year contract for something that is not deadweight and would be a nice addition to the wing rotation.

So, Toronto swaps Brown for Hardaway and Prosper, and gets a 2nd for taking on 2 years of Powell. Works for me.

Re: DAL/TOR
4 for 1 deal works?
THJ, Powell, Hardy, Lawson, TOR 25 2nd, BOS 25 2nd for Brown
salaries are just enough to make it more than Brown salary.
DAL doesn't hardcap at 1st Apron, TOR get a low level prospect in Hardy, their second and a crappy second.
If the 2 teams manage to do it before the end of June, it could be done with THJ/Powell/2 2nds.

But mavs give up 2 young cheap guys and 2 2nds, for 1 of the most overpayed contracts in the league and have to fill 3 vet min contracts and no contract to dump to retain djj. Mavs just lose way too much for brown

Yeah I think OP works.
If Dallas wants to dump some more salary, you can also add in a Maxi Kleber for Chris Boucher swap.
Both are bench bigs, but Dallas trades a $22M guaranteed contract for a $10.8M guarantee.

The issue is Kleber to Toronto is mostly just a line item on a bad team. So you think taking on his 2nd year is adding value. But its not adding value to Dallas because they are a contending level team and he plays an important role Boucher can in no way play. So while the second year is a negative to Toronto, saving it is not a positive for Dallas.
Not a value add to the deal, actually hurts both teams.

I don’t really understand Dallas fans love of Kleber. He averages like 4 points and 2 rebounds. The coach trusts him, which counts, but on the whole, he seems like a 11th or 12th man type guy. If you’re looking to cut on salary, that’s an easy line item to replace.
Next season DLively will take over more minutes, so there’s even less PT for Kleber (or his replacement).

I guess because Dallas fans understand that box score stats are not a great way to define a player? I mean that's such a reductive argument of no value at all. It ignores that Kleber can switch the PNR and hold his own and is the best vertical rim protector since Roy Hibbert. He's a really smart and effective defensive player.
He's not a star. He's a 3rd or 4th big, but a good and useful one. Just giving him away for no reason because a guy on the internet thinks in 2024 that box score counting numbers defines merit is not something Dallas is likely to do.
And Lively taking more minutes is going to cut into Gafford more than Kleber. Kleber is mostly a backup 4 who will play some 5 when the team wants to play 5 out or their opponent tries to go small and play a center off the court. He's going to get 20 mpg. Boucher would get none except in case of injury.

Kleber easily a top 8 rotation player on more than half of the teams in the playoffs. He is a good defender who can switch 1 through 5 and hit 3s. If your box score watching leads you to completely incorrect conclusions then you shouldn’t box score watch.
