Raptors Expected To Seek Trade For Bruce Brown

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Sat Jun 15, 2024 11:17 pm

The Toronto Raptors are expected to pick up their team option for Bruce Brown. That would put Brown on Toronto's books at $23 million, but Brown's stay with the Raptors may not last long.

Toronto is expected to look at trading Brown this offseason. Brown will have value to contenders as a plug-and-play wing.

Brown signed a two-year, $45 million deal with the Indiana Pacers last summer. At the trade deadline, Brown was part of the deal that sent Pascal Siakam from Toronto to Indiana.

Not worth it imo. A second round pick? Just cut him loose and let him sign somewhere else.

Why would they? Raps are rebuilding and need every last draft/young asset they can get. Cutting him to open up a tiny bit of cap...to sign...who?

He played really badly for the raptors last year, but raptors only sign bad FA and they usually have to pay people to take them after, so it’s probably a safe bet to pick up this option instead.

As is typical with Masai…it’s a year too late.

He got basically nothing for Lowry, nothing for FVV, and faaaar less for OG and Pascal than he would have got in 2022-23. He will end up losing Gary Trent Jr for nothing also

GTJ isn’t worth anything and I’m guessing Bruce brown isn’t either or he would have traded. The e rest I agree with.

GTJ was worth something in 2022-23. He’s at his lowest value since his first year in the league. Brown 100% had value last year. The fact he wasn’t traded doesn’t mean he didn’t have value…it means Masai overestimated his value (again).

Bruce Brown isn't worth anywhere near that money. He's a net negative in just about every metric on both ends of the floor and coming off the worst season of his career. Maybe as a "big contract" portion of a trade but only thing you might get back is a different player at the same level of production relative to contract.

Bruce Browns value is the one year on his contract allowing second apron teams to clear cap room at end of next year in exchange for longer term money Raps can absorb along with a couple of 2nds.
