Hey Happy Father's Day, Celtics friends!

I never had kids and wish I could watch my handsome basketball sons win a title tonight but I guess I have to wait haha.

But to all the dads out there, thank you for raising me right.

Don't mess around, we are one Tatum twisted ankle away from losing this series.

This team takes a while to get over humps. It took them forever to get over the Miami hump and get to the finals. They need to close this out.

I find Mazzulla's pregame comments to be reassuring. He clearly isn't letting them get away with garbage effort.

I do feel what you’re saying but a lack of creativity has sometimes been a problem, so why not try something. The 08 Celts had eleven players play at least 100 minutes that years playoffs and the 12th man only played 65 and should have probably played a 100+ as well — it was 26 yr old Tony Allen.

There’s no rule that you can’t try a guy for 2-3 minutes if he gives you a different look.

Or not. Or just hope for a better % night from the Jays and PP. but I wouldn’t mind a little creativity.

I’m pretty confident we’ll win game 5 by double digits, but if we end up losing game 5 I’m going to point to these comments from the players about there still being 3 more chances to get this done, and how losing game 5 isn’t the end of the world.

I’m not wild about that approach to this game

I'm not sure why everyone lost their mind. If they lost this series then you blow it up. Every single bit of it.

None of them will live it down. Even going back and winning it next year.

I couldn't respect a single one of them again if they blew a 3 to 0 finals lead.

I'm at peace with where we are. We either win the title or we know that this core is historically embarrassing. I can move on from both.

It took what a lot of people consider the GOAT just to come back from a 3-1 deficit. Luka has a chance to become an all-time great but there is a reason no team has ever come back from 3-0 down & I don’t believe he’s good enough to be the first player to do that.

If it eventually does happen it will be because of one of three reasons:
1. A superstar that is solely reliant on his team’s success & they’re up 3-0 gets injured for the rest of the series.
2. The superior team talent-wise is down 3-0. (Like us last year vs Heat)
3. The team up 3-0 is extremely young & inexperienced in the playoffs. (OKC this year)

We don’t fit in either one of those categories which is why I’m not worried at all.

.

This is silly. We absolutely BEAT the Mavs in game 2. There was no “luck” , whistles or extraordinary effort on our end. We played great defense and scored more than they did.

It’s alarming that we threw in the towel game 4 but let’s not call this a tied series.

Check the Celtic record when they shoot below 30% from 3pt land.

Tatum needs to get out of his shooting funk. Either you take less of those pullup threes or make more of them! He's only shot at least 50% FG% three times all postseason. In the past, when he isn't shooting well, he at least gets to the line. Where's the double digit FTAs?

Image

Tatum TS% per round:
R1: 56.3%
R2: 56.6%
R3: 56.4%
Finals: 48.6%

For once, please shoot well. Shooting isn't everything and he does a lot of things. But please shoot well. Go nuclear for just one game to end this thing.

Always a good sign we're begging our $300M man to shoot well once.

These Celtics should know that it's entirely possible to come back from 3-0 and tie it up 3-3. They almost became the first team to actually come back from 3-0 if not for that ankle sprain. This game should not be another repeat of Game 4. As I said in the post game thread, Game 5 will show us if this team is made of metal or jello. Lose this game and they may indeed make history and not in a good way.

I'm kinda with you. I'm 90% sure we'll win.

And if we don't, I think that's probably it for this core.

This is where I am at as well. They blow this 3-1 lead, I'm done with this group, and more particularly, with the Jays.
