AB breakdown video of rookie year and defense

Thought this deserved to be seen by everyone and not lost in the already existing AB thread. A really nice breakdown of Black and what he did his rookie year. Already had an issue with them not playing AB more towards the end of the season and the Playoffs but after watching this really scratching my head and asking why. Especially when you hear some of those defensive stats against guys like Donovan Mitchell. Tray Young. and jalen Brunson.

Hope AB is looking at derrick white as a possible target. Plays strong defense... Hits open threes..... Makes the right plays for your teammates with IQ and skill

Remember these three names

SGA
Kemba Walker
Bruce Brown Jr

These are AB's best college comps over the past 14 college seasons

Then, as a rookie, his comps are Andre Igudala and Bruce Bowen.

Suggs still grades out better but AB has an extremely high ceiling.

Great, solid player. I agree he'd be a great role model for AB...AB could be a monster contributor even if he never becomes a "PG". I'm not saying he won't become an offensive creator, but he's so versatile and intriguing, in so many ways, that we should keep our minds open as to ways he could evolve. I keep saying "younger, elite-defending, Jingles"...a guy who takes what you give him, always makes good decisions, never looks rushed or frazzled, and can play or cover various positions and fit into any lineup. I don't think THAT is far off, he just has to be more aggressive offensively (not a surprise for a young rookie), hunt shots and prove he can pull up off of movement, and just keep developing that court vision. He's really pretty close, imo, despite his nearly invisible offensive #'s. I really don't get why he didn't get more PT in the second half of the year, when it was clear that Fultz was toast and Jingles seemed to be slowing down a bit. His playoff minutes were misleading because 3qtrs (combined) of games 3 & 4 were junk time Magic blowouts.

BTW, you could make a very similar video/profile of Brogdon. He has age & injuries (although overstated, imo), but he's a pretty complete player too. Similar to White in all respects and, seemingly, available.

I've always loved brogdon.... I'm down for him on our team too.... Just depends on the price because the injury concern with him is legit. Cole + a couple second rounders and we can definitely talk. But he's only played 60+ games 3 times in his career.... One being his rookie year... And the other the season before last. Seeing him play on our team as a complete player would be a great way to gauge more what we could be.

But yeah.... If AB can just play high level defense, make shots, cut to the basket , and be that connective piece we would like.... He's our starter in the backcourt. And that is also cuz I think Suggs will also improve his playmaking as well.we have a team filled with great IQ players... People just need to move more and ball watch less. Make opportunities happen.

Very happy for AB! I am a big fan of him! I think part of the reason he was not utilized on offense was because of the system didn't need him to be. Hope he keeps working on his game and feel of the game, which, i think, will benefit him a lot next season

I hope Black becomes Michael Jordan. He’s actually taller than MJ, so he’ll probably be better. I heard he scored 75 pts in a middle school preseason game.

Speaking it into existence…don’t get me wrong - hoping it works

I didn't get the 'starting' argument...I LOVE this kid.

He's not taking Suggs' SG job, but he could, ultimately lead ORL to believe they could move Suggs in a star trade :o .

He doesn't look like he'll be scoring or creating enough, for a while at least, to play next to Suggs.

Solution for 24-25...Play him all over the place, particularly at Point Forward, with bench crew (Ingles role) as well as a little bit of time at PG with starters. Give him the minutes to show what he's got, but don't hand him the keys prematurely.

Suggs and Harris were our most used starting guard tandem last season. Which one was the PG?

NEITHER...we started two SG's because we didn't have a legit PG

The closest thing we started at PG was a 6'10 guy. So was the second closest thing.

Starting two 6'4" guys at guard doesn't mean we had a PG...in our case, it proved we didn't.

*the starting PG for 24-25 isn't on the roster yet
