White Sox Owner Jerry Reinsdorf \'Committed To Winning\'

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Thu May 30, 2024 2:25 pm

The Chicago White Sox have baseball\'s worst record and at 15-41, they are off to the worst start in the franchise\'s 124-year history.

The White Sox have been to the playoffs just twice in the last 15 years. The club\'s payroll of $123.1 million on Opening Day ranked 20th among baseball\'s 30 teams.

Chicago\'s payroll was $181.2 million last season. They are one of two teams never to sign a player to a $100 million contract.

Despite all that, manager Pedro Grifol insists that owner Jerry Reinsdorf wants to win.

\"I\'ve known Jerry for a year and a half,\" Grifol said. \"Nobody wants to win more than he does. I know that for a fact because I\'m the one who gets phone calls, and I talk to him. I get text messages. He is 100% committed to winning. And he is extremely knowledgeable about the game of baseball.

\"He\'s not just a fan. The questions he asks, he knows exactly what\'s going on. He knows the game. You\'re not in the game for 44 years, around 1,000 coaches, sitting in on meetings and listen and listen and listen and watch and watch and not know the game. He\'s passionate, he\'s extremely competitive.\"

I love these types of articles.

If Reinsdorf and company were truly committed to winning, they would actually be making moves to improve the team. What have they done so far this year? Signed Tommy Pham :o Traded for Corey Julks :o

Their "star" players are some of the most injury prone in all of sports. Young guys like Andrew Vaughn simply do not have it. Their pitching is abysmal.

Reinsdork is committed to winning? :o Coulda fooled me, eh! Especially in 1997 when he did the white flag sale in 1997, which got the Giants a division title that year. And he hasn't done much with the bulls since Jordan left.
