The Los Angeles Dodgers have placed Mookie Betts on the injured list with a broken left hand.
Betts, 31, was hit by a 97.9 mph fastball from reliever Dan Altavilla in the seventh inning of Sunday\'s 3-0 win over the Kansas City Royals.
Dave Roberts said Monday that it\'s likely to be a 6-8 week absence for Betts. However, that could change based on his progress over the next few weeks. On Sunday, in his postgame media availability, Roberts said Betts\' injury would not require surgery.
This will be Betts\' first stint on the injured list in two years. He missed nearly three weeks in June 2022 because of a cracked right rib.
