Bruce Brown Predictions

Post#1 » by OakleyDokely » Tue Jun 18, 2024 1:59 pm

Brown’s option date is June 29th. If the Raps decline it, he becomes an unrestricted free agent. If the Raps pick the option up, he's locked into 1 more year at 23 million. The Raps can't decline the option and then trade him. If he's traded, the team acquiring him has a 1 year commitment at 23 million.

Brown with the Raptors (34 games):

26.0 MIN, 9.6 PPG, 3.8 REB, 2.7 AST, 0.7 STL, .481 FG, .317 3PT, .833 FT, .557 TS

I think we pick up the option and get a pittance at the deadline.

Traded for a FRP( o+ maybe a couple seconds)coupled with a bad salary.

Any FRP is from this draft.

I would hope that either he is traded on draft night leading into FA, or the option gets declined. We just had him on the roster at the deadline and couldn't find a deal for him. Once June 29th comes, we'll have tried to trade him for value at a trade deadline and at a draft. If you can't do either of those, you'll never find value. And his contract is functionally exactly the same if we wait for next deadline, except with even less team control...

Trade now, or cut. Zero benefit I can see with carrying him into the season. I mean, there's always a chance some miracle deal happens later, but it would indeed be a miracle.

the benefit is you have the player play for you. he isnt a scrub, yes overpaid, but not by much, he is a MLE level player at worst.

Oof, well, count that as another reason not to keep him. As useful as he can theoretically be, he doesn't fit what we are doing here and is just taking minutes away from younger wings who need them.

We pick up his option and trade him for pennies at the trade deadline.

That or keep him and he walks for nothing the following summer.

I'd be very surprised if he gets traded in draft night. Trading him for another 2024 pick goes against Bobby's "we can't have too many rookies" entering a season.

My preference is that the TO gets picked up and traded at the draft. In reality, the TO gets picked up and he gets traded for a meh return at the deadline.

I am of the school of thought that cap space is an asset, so unless there is a good deal for Bruce, I rather just cut him and use the cap space (which I believe is more than the MLE) to sign some younger players. Don't trade him for the sake of trading him.

First, I want to commend thr OP for a poll that lists all possibilities. So many polls on RealGM are missing options and do not include "other" as an option.

My prediction is that we pick up his option and trade him by the deadline. What I want is to not pick up his option.

Pick up option and trade during FA period / at the draft, more likely during FA. I don't think we start next season with him on the roster.

I am guessing we have juiced up value for the 31st pick and we trade Brown + 31st for another first rounder in 2025. This isn't a draft we should be getting two players from, and the 2nd rounder will have more interest with the new 2-day draft. It would be a good micro transaction to turnover an asset into something with higher potential value.

If Masai cannot get ~12\13\14th pick for BB + 19th, or 23/24/25 th pick for BB+31st, someone needs to get fired

Should: Pick up option and trade during draft/offseason

Probably: Pick up option and get peanuts at the deadline

Prove to me you've changed Masai :)

Dump him, he doesn't want to be here.

I think he will have a larger market than people realize. Every contender wants a Bruce Brown on their team. NBA GM's love "prototype" players.

I suspect we pick up his option and he gets traded, I Just dont know when

He's likely getting his option picked up then traded in the offseason but wouldn't be super surprised he's still here at the start.
