You are the GM of the Houston Rockets, what would you do this offseason?

I like, and covet, a lot of the guys on Houston´s roster but nobody really stands out as a guy who will make an all-star team perenially or be a guy-to-guy on a Championship contender. Therefor consolidation for a star would be my priority before all these good, but not great, young guys need extensions.

I imagine this trade won´t be popular with Rockets fans given their understandable love for Sengun but in terms of roster construction the future looks brighter

Devin Booker

Booker is still only 26 years old so he can definitely grow with this team.

The Suns get some great pieces to build a contender. With only one ball to share Booker is a bit superfluous with Durant and Beal. Sengun is the ideal C for this team, Brooks is a awesome veteran piece and Green can learn from the best.

I don't see the Nets trading the Suns pick and Bridges just to get their picks back. I also think "choosing" Sengun as the centerpiece of the franchise would be a mistake until he proves otherwise. They don't have any reason to trade him right now, so the approach of using 3 and just seeing how another season looks makes sense. But I don't think making a trade to try to accelerate makes sense, because they're currently pointed at the ground.

Draft Reed Sheppard to be a bench shooter for now and eventually would be a fantastic back court fit with Amen. Keep all of the non guaranteed guys on the books, Tate is a useful player, Green useful in the locker room and Landale is a good third center in case Adam's needs to miss some games. Find a bench shooter, maybe overpay someone like Malik Beasley for the mle in exchange for no promise of PT. Third Pg minimum kind of guy. Aaron Holiday would be great if he'd come back but think he's going to try to find more opportunity after having a solid year.


Just getting Adams and Tari plus development of the young guys should make them better. Already packed rotation wise.

Plus a FA 2/3 shooter. Assuming pick 44 will be a two way guy.

Don't see the need for a guy like Beasley. He's just going to take away valuable playing time and not going to make much of a difference. Otherwise, I'd agree, this is probably the way to go.
Maybe sign or trade for a guy who's not gonna demand playing time on a one year expiring or on a contract structured like Landale and Jeff Green (non-guaranteed after this year), as another salary trade chip.

I think they'd be wise to get a guy who can shoot and just stay out of the way as a two guard incase Jalen Green still stinks and Cam/Reed aren't ready to close games. They had to close a lot of games with aaron holiday early in the season and I don't think they give Jalen Green as much leash as he got last year, he needs to prove it or lost his spot this year.

But otherwise thats why I mentioned overpaying him, give him a significant bump over the market which I imagine isn't huge with the understanding there might not be a ton of minutes for him. Another option there is lonnie walker

I wonder if going after Garland or Trae would be a good move. Both guys can be hidden with the Rockets size.
