Multiple sources throughout the league and in France are saying that the San Antonio Spurs and Atlanta Hawks have discussed a potential trade to take place on the evening of the upcoming NBA Draft.
According to French sources, the Spurs would put together a package that would include their 4th and 8th pick in order to choose first instead of the Hawks during the 2004 NBA Draft ceremony in two weeks.

Strength, endurance training + NO's shooting coach = 2 way switch able C for Zion

Risarcher getting mocked at 1 in most drafts with connecting rumors that Spurs are willing to trade 4 & 8 for #1
Salaun & Risarcher the only 2 players Spurs have worked out. Sarr's camp is at odd's with Wemby's camp. They apparently want Sarr to go where he can start.
Wizards won't let him fall past 2 as they have time to wait & build on his potential.

"Klutch Sports has been reportedly “hiding him,” according to one connected draft insider".
Klutch knows if their client plays with Wemby it will elevate their stock,
If Spurs are not interested in their prospect. I can see Klutch push Garland to the Spurs to get out from under Mitchells shadow.
The question for me is, are they after Risarcher or is their attempt to move up with Hawks a part of a larger deal ?. Sarr is not falling past the Wizards.

Re: Road to a Championship start here, 2022 Draft.
Got some clarification. Spurs would offer a FRP if it's the 8th pick, not the 4th, for Garland.
I think that's workable if Hawks are entertaining trading down for Clingan.
If the rumors of Spurs trading up are true, the question becomes what's their interest, #1 Risarcher or multi team deal for Garland ?
Cavs trade - (Garland) for (BI)
Spurs trade - (Keldon, Collins, #4 Clingan) for (Garland)
Hawks trade - (#1) for (#4 Clingan, #21, NO's 25)
NO's trade - (BI, #21, NO's 25) for (Keldon, Collins, #1 Sarr)
As you know, I've wanted CJ out to improve the defensive fit. I think that interest blinded me to the situation of trading for Sarr. Daniels being 20, Sarr 19 in need of a couple years development & Hawks price for Murray being to high. Rumors of Herb being included to have a Murray/CJ backcourt over CJ/Herb. Got me thinking, in the soft reset, the **** am I trading CJ. Let his 30m expire & in 2yrs Sarr 19, Daniels 20, will have hopefully progressed offensively.
#1 Sarr - Collins - Nance -----------------2yr bridge ----------------- #1 Sarr 21
Zion - Nance -------------------------------------------------------------- Zion 26
Murphy - Keldon/Daniels ----------------------------------------------- Murphy 24
Herb - Hawkins/Keldon/Daniels --------------------------------------- Herb 28 - Hawkins 25
CJ - Jose/Daniels ------------------------------------------------------- Daniels 22
CJ's 35m freed.

Re: Road to a Championship start here, 2022 Draft.
Nance - Zion - Murphy - Herb - CJ was +10 in 140 minutes.
Out the box Sarr would be a more athletic, longer, better rebounder & switch defender than Nance. Neither being offensively inclined, it should work now defensively what Green wants to push pace, while Sarr works on developing his range. Unfortunately, without Jonas to bridge a development gap in the equation, who was big in injuries. Health will play a big factor.
Keep NO's 25 draft pick so that the team can pivot to development & draft in a worse case scenario, Zion not being available without BI & Jonas to help carry the team.
Worse case outlook next year would be
Sarr - 20 potential on rookie scale & control
Zion - 25
Murphy - 25
Herb - Hawkins 24
Daniels - 21
+ 25 lotto pick to bolster C or point pending on how the year plays out & CJ as an expiring trade asset.

Trade board suggested a couple trades for Ivey
(CJ, #21) for (Ivey. Brown JR, 25m cap space) which I would do.
(M.Robinson, cap space, 24) for (Ivey)
I combined the 2 suggestions to come up with
Detroit trade - (Ivey, Brown JR) for (CJ, #21)
Knicks trade - (M. Robinson, #24) for (Ivey)
NO's trade - (CJ, #21) for (M.Robinson, Brown JR, cap space, #24)

Re: Road to a Championship start here, 2022 Draft.
If Spurs are intent on trading up for Risarcher. Houston is open to dealing #3 for a proven player, where Clingan can be selected for a Hawks potential trade down. Unlike the Spurs trade involving the Cavs, BI will be going to a in division rival. Which is not a preferred option.
It's to bad Sarr wouldn't fall past Wizards or I would then trade back to 4 & 8, select Sarr at 4 & Carter at 8. Wizards interest in both French players messes up that interest. Either way. I don't mind dealing with Houston if they have interest in BI for #3, young player, potentially future 1st.
Houston doesn't realize why Nets won't take their good offer for Bridges. The 3rd pick, is the Nets pick, 1 of several good picks they traded for Harden, that resulted in their super trio, turning into the prize that is Bridges. Went from the big 3, to #3, in a weak draft. Trading Bridges to Houston for 1 of their own picks back, is admittance to epic failure.
I would take (#3 Clingan & Green) for (BI). Add a FRP if necessary, in order to trade up with Atlanta for Sarr. Come away with Sarr, Green & cap space for BI. Then trade (CJ, #21) for (Ivey, 28m cap space) flipping Ivey to Knicks for (Robinson, 24). If Knicks have no interest, there will be enough cap space to sign a free agent C to bridge the development gap.

Vegas odds have Sarr going #1, Clingan #3 ahead of the Spurs cutting off their 4 & 8 deal.
Odds suggesting a potential trade down.
If Houston want BI I'd Do (#1 Sarr, Whitmore/Green. cap space)

Re: Road to a Championship start here, 2022 Draft.
Another NO's board posted this -
Taking good shots always makes defense easier. There is a reason Mazulla focused on shot selection and offensive rebounding during every timeout. He repeatedly stated "our defense starts by taking good shots". No team works harder at getting good shots than the Celtics.
& this -
The argument is that shot selection and offensive rebounding are why the Celtics dominated Dallas and great defensive teams like Minnesota and OKC were dominated by Dallas. Creating easy opportunities to score is just as important as preventing easy opportunities to score.
What have I been saying. Offensive efficiency plays into defense & defense plays into transition offense. Jonas has been apart of 3 separate teams to make top 5 in defense because of his efficiency & rebounding. I've been posting that for almost 3yrs now.
What did NO's do. Play Nance who can't rebound over Jonas & then let him walk in free agency to compensate for BI & CJ taking 30 APG at 45% efficiency, where Jonas is 60% efficiency. It's the exact explanation as to why the Starter with Daniels was +20.
Jonas - Zion - BI - Herb - Daniels +20 100mins
Nance - Zion - BI - Herb - CJ -6.5 140mins
Daniels 12% usage, 5APG, no spacing vs CJ 25% usage, 16 APG, 42% elite spacing
Nance & Allen are in to do what? cleanup shot selection & compensate for CJ's poor D......
Jonas & ZIon are 60% efficiency, BI without CJ is only 15 APG at 45% efficiency with Daniels low usage = Efficiency/shot selection..... ZIon was averaging 18 APG at near 60% efficiency.
The issue was & is CJ. Jonas is gone now & a defensive big, is more of the same.

Re: Road to a Championship start here, 2022 Draft.
The difference between Daniels & CJ was (Low usage & elite defense).
I made a topic about this at the time Daniels was starting. With CJ starting, ZIon was averaging 8-12 APG sharing the court with BI. With Daniels starting, Zion was averaging 18 APG sharing the court with BI. Better shot selection & efficiency, less offensive overlap.
With BI & CJ, NO's went from 30 APG at 45% to BI & Daniels 20 APG at 45%. + Daniels defensive compensation, which effectively balanced the lineup on both ends but everyone complained about Daniels ability to space the floor. It's an issue but that's why he should have continued to start, to develop because he raised the defensive ceiling.
Nance was -6.5 over Jonas because he's in to cleanup poor shot selection & CJ's poor perimeter defense. He was never the issue, he was solid defensively.
Nance defense & Low usage over Jonas 60% efficiency & rebounding. -6.5
vs
Daniels defense & low usage over CJ's 45% efficiency & spacing.+20
Daniels paired with Herb helped boost, stls, blks & rim protection which led to transition offense & defenses not being set, which is more effective than elite spacing.

Re: Road to a Championship start here, 2022 Draft.
Shorter version -
Daniels over CJ = Better shot selection, efficiency, less offensive overlap & defensive compensation.
Going with a defensive big like Nance wasn't as effective because it's the same shot selection, poor perimeter defense & offensive overlap reducing Zion's court value. Lack of rebounding didn't help
Jonas is 60% efficiency, rebounding & low impact usage offensively.
NO's let his 15/10/2 in 25mins on a value 15m walk for CJ's max extension & his defensive C compensation. Cleanup duty on isle CJ. When all they had to do was continue to start Daniels & work on his 3pt shooting to the point he can punish teams for leaving him open.
Instead he was on the bench come playoffs because of a lack of reps & development

Poster pointing to Celtics holding the Mavs to under 100 is completely missing the point
How does an offensive big like Jonas start on 3 separate teams to make top 5 in defense?
Same principle & the Celtics coach said it best. Defense starts with taking good shots.
= Reduced waste & a set defense. Less defensive effort & compensation needed when you play in efficiency. Rebounding closes possessions & give 2nd chance opportunity which increases efficiency.

Raptors board posted a link saying NO's are showing interest in Capela.
If he's not coming with the #1 pick, no interest. His game is declining. It will be a loss to give up value for him, unless your placing value in the expiring contract.
Unless you can trade CJ for Murray. The only thing I want from the Hawks is the #1 pick.

If you like Allen, you should like Claxton as a free agent. However, having to trade Nance & Daniels to sign him to 20m is very poor asset management.
Trading for & extending CJ has led to not being able to retain Jonas, BI on the block & a 20yp elite defender with potential being offered up for a free agent NO's could have just signed.
