I'm just trying to make the reasonable point that while DJJ was a good player for Dallas this year, he's not irreplacable. And he's a FA and Dallas is capped at what they can pay him. We need to accept the very real possibility that he will not be a Maverick next year and I don't think the team is going to give up if they lose him....
I just heard daeoneandonlys scream all the way to sweden...
I think I may regret starting this thread if somehow it leads to Green starting or getting more minutes.
I like DJJ a lot and would rather have him than Barnes if it were an "or" and not "and" scenario, but the drop off isnt massive. I know many Mavs fans feel for Barnes the way I do Green, but dude did everything he could while here, did it professionally, and never caused any issues, so I like him.
As bad as PJ was in the finals, i still think he's a keeper. This team just went to the finals and yes Kyrie is older and the west is getting better, but still shouldnt make any drastic changes. The core 4 should remain and start Luka-Kyrie-PJ-Lively. Gafford should only be traded if its a guy that fills in that hole at SF.
We need a starting SF, DJJ could fit but we still need to improve the bench. We need a more reliable backup PG than Exum and a guy who can score efficiently without being a turnstile on d (so not THJ)
I agree point by point... and I also think that we need a Wing that starts in DJJ's place (even retaining him) since he is the weakest link, but it has to have the particularity of being versatile enough that it can defend guards ( What job did DJJ have? Can J.Grant do that? Or could he be a guard, due to Luka's size? The 3-guard lineups in the previous Playoff race (Jalen/SD/Luka) They worked very well...so would Caruso be the perfect target?
