The deals are too big, the impact too small.

I think Garland is in a different class than those other player in the sense that he has a lot more runway to develop than Ingram, Murray and Randle. Garland is flat out better than Sexton IMO. Guess I’m higher on Garland than most here.

The OP is closer to reality if it's Mitchell instead of Garland. #3 simply doesn't make sense for Garland.

Houston's almost certainly better off short-term and medium-term just keeping FVV and drafting Sheppard/Castle/Topic as their PG of the future.

I don’t think the difference is that significant right now. Garlands defensive +/- over the past three seasons is comparable to FVV. Fred definitely the better leader and more experienced vet but Garland is the better natural scorer has superior upside. Far superior upside to both FVV and whomever is available at #3 in this draft IMO. That’s why Houston should make the trade.

Garland has proven he is not very impactful unless he is number 1, and he is not a good number 1.

Again, you would have to add a pick to upgrade Garland to FVV. And #3 is off the table.

He is 24 lol. In his second, third and fourth seasons he was in the 76%, 98% and 84% percentile in point differential respectively. Last year he did struggle next to Mitchell but I don’t think that defines his ceiling or career. At 23 there aren’t many guys who are a good number 1 and adjusting to the secondary role can take some getting used to. Regardless, he would be the best player on the Rockets.

Garlands second, third and fourth years in the league are on par or better than VV career year last year. Garland has a chance to be special. Thats what the Rockets should be focused on until they are able to find a couple legit first and second option guys.
