OKC can pay him what he wants and offer contention. Only LAC can offer the same.
Not sure OKC should give him that big of a contract, but they could.

All of these players are just using the Magic. They have no desire to come here they just want more money or years from their team.

I hate the idea of the Magic overpaying for the corpse of Klay.
That guy is cooked. Paul George would be a much better asset in Orlando.

Ballmer isn't going to let him walk.

Classic case of a #3 eating #1 money.
Old enough to remember when he made a Gatorade commercial needing a buzzer beater, and he didn't have one so they faked it. (He did hit one once later on. Once.)
Not a needle mover. But he'll get paid and never do anything, so life goes on.

Ballmer wont let him walk, not with the new stadium opening up. Gotta give their fans reason to fill the seats next season.

I think it might be wiser for the clippers to let pg go if he wants 4 years and transition to acquiring Derozan. Derozan is better at driving to the basket, has a more consistent mid-range game and is more durable. A 2 year deal for derozan would be better than a 4 year deal for pg

Memories wrote:Magic would be an excellent fit for George. The only issue is that they would still have issues of not having a Point Guard at all, but this lineup is still very solid:
Jalen Suggs
Paul George
Franz Wagner
Paolo Banchero
Wendell Carter Jr
I think something does have to give with Suggs however, because I have a feeling with in that lineup, it would be too many cooks. They need a true facilitator, or someone to focus on spot up shooting at PG. Someone like DeAngelo Russell would work well here.
I buy everything except Dlo part there. Delete Dlo mention and I agree 100%.
Why can't Suggs learn to be a distributor? I thought he was a facilitator in college.

Yeah. Ballmer's got way too much money. PG money is small change for him. He'll spend the money to win this investment/pet project foray into sports entertainment business. Because that's what this is for him. A fun project.

Re: Paul George basically confirming he's out of there!
Paul George is not a winning player imo.
If Philly honestly think signing him could get them over the hump in the East should beware of the Dame Lillard experience in Milwaukee last season.
The ideal/best situation for PG is to take up a Mentorship type of role for Paulo at Orlando.

Then he should sign with Dallas, TX has no income taxes.
Trade away Hardaway & Kleber for a bag of Doritos, figure out how to get rid of Josh Green horrific contract
Kyrie
Luka
PG
Washington
Lively
Gafford, Hardy, Exum (blah)
If Paul George was smart he will force his way to Dallas. He’s close to Kyrie, a fan of Kidd and Luka is better than any point guard he’s ever played with.

San Antonio is a good place for him. Despite what folks are saying teams should be multi-generational. George should go to a team staffed by younger players if those players are sufficiently good enough. Maybe that is the Magic. But the Spurs are a team on the rise with another couple high picks, a burgeoning superstar and trade flexibility.

I think PG should want to go to San Antonio, just not sure it would fit their timeframe. I think he could really help Vassel and Sochan..help them understand some concepts

Do the Spurs have the cap space to offer him a max deal?

They can fairly easily get to about $33M in cap space. They just have to renounce their free agents (Hayward, Sarr, Biyombo, Muscala & Johnson). Then it looks like this:
SGA - $35,859,950
Dort - $16,500,000
Holmgren - $10,880,640
Giddey - $8,352,367
Williams - $6,669,000
Wallace - $5,555,880
Dieng - $5,027,040
#12 Draft pick - $4,950,480
Williams - $4,775,760
Waters - $2,196,970 (team option)
Joe - $2,164,993 (team option)
Williams - $2,164,993 (non-guaranteed)
Wiggins - $1,988,598 (team option)
Porter - $1,000,000 (dead money)
Total - $107,941,377
Potential Cap Space - $33,058,623
I think they have plenty of assets to make a trade to clear more space if needed.

Wow does time fly, Clippers were contenders the moment they got Kawhi and PG - still nothing to show for it.
