I don't want the three, it's unrealistic. I'd rather grab next year's 2, and then get 27 & 29 firsts back. Like I said, we save almost 27 million in that trade

I'm not a great cap mind like some of the others on here, but imagine if..

Conley, Fultz
Edwards, Naw
McDaniels, Oubre
Smith, Reid
Gobert, Adams

What if it is just Towns for Smith, Brooks, and Adams and skip the picks? I'd definitely consider it.

No thanks to Brooks. Why take him back at all? He isn't needed for salary purposes. If you want a physical wing type back, ask for Eason as well.

I don't understand this. There is no way that Houston isn't over the cap if they trade KAT for half his salary coming back. They are pretty much over the cap now unless they decline a bunch of options and holds.

I'm telling you, it works on trade checker. Might have something to do with trading before vs after draft

Start to believe we won't make big changes this year and i think they are right.
This team has huge chemistry. We can manage to stay top 1-4 all season, just need to improve a bit load management to help players to be 100% at PO time . This was not the case for Ant and Mike.
Youngs players will keep improving.

Slomo is the one things can be debated. He was better at PO time but still hurt us a lot on offensive part. Can he be back to his 2 years ago level? and how much can we pay him?

I'm not worry about what will happen in the coming weeks. Future looks bright. Go Wolves!

You are probably right. We match up very well against most teams.

I tend to agree. Morris too. And honestly, maybe even McLaughlin, as crazy as it sounds.

Is it possible to see TC trading Moore, Minott just to free roster spot for a veteran?

For instance, let say Anderson, Morris, McLaughlin and Garza all decide to return for minimum (or close to minimum) deals. Plus two draft picks, let say Baylor Scheierman as a movement shooter wing, KJ Simpson as Conley type of backup PG.

Gobert/Reid/Garza
Towns/Anderson/Miller
McDaniels/Scheierman/Minott
Edwards/NAW/Moore + Clarke (2W)
Conley/Morris/McLaughlin + Simpson

It is already 16 spots... And honestly if we re-sign Anderson (i.e. bringing back his defense, rebounding, passing) I'd trade Moore and Minott if we need spots for impactful veterans. Let say Evan Fournier (or Torrey Craig, Joe Harris, Reggie Bullock, Jordan Nwora, Robert Covington, Danuel House, Keita Bates-Diop, Doug McDermott, Joe Ingles, Cam Reddish) wants to join MIN. Trade Minott, Moore for nothing.

Gobert/Reid/Garza
Towns/Anderson/Miller
McDaniels/Scheierman/???
Edwards/NAW/Clarke (2W)
Conley/Morris/McLaughlin + Simpson

KAT for Beal, who says no?

To stay big KAT and Jaden for Beal, Allen, and Eubanks. Who says no?

Hard to envision Slo-Mo and Morris signing for vet min deals. Slo-Mo already said that he expected that his anticipated salary would price him out of returning to MN.

Jaden > Allen + Eubanks
Towns >> Beal. His no trade clause makes him the worst contract in the league.

Anyone who's ever cared about the Minnesota timberwolves. Beal, Allen and Eubanks don't get you KAT, let alone KAT and Jaden. Beal is athletically compromised by the accumulation of injuries and is the worst contract in the NBA. The Suns would have to give up other things for taking that contract, not receive anything worthwhile in return. Allen is good, but he's not even a #3 on a winning team and Eubanks is just a guy.
From a fundamental standpoint it is better for a man to have nothing but be under the protection of Jesus Christ than for him to have everything he could ever want yet be completely without.

Are you just here to troll wolves fans? Please come up with something realistic if you want to be taken seriously.

I'm just curious about the pulse here on Wendell Moore. Would you trade him for 53, for example?

At this point, fans seem to have given up on him. So I think a lot of Wolves fans seem like they'd be willing to trade him and his $2.5 million, even for only a late 2nd round pick.

Meanwhile, what does Detroit at 53 (or Washington at 51) have to gain from a late 2nd round pick? Taking a chance on a former 1st round pick might be worthwhile, even if he doesn't pan out. The added salary to the cap really shouldn't affect them too much.

100% but I think we may need to add cash to pay for his salary.

I would prefer trading him for a future 2nd, then use the roster slot on a (slightly cheaper) vet min roleplayer.

But yes

I preface by saying neither player is my first choice if making a significant trade. With that said, are we overvaluing the fit of Dejounte Murray and undervaluing the fit of Trae Young on this team?

Trae is a career 25/9 guy and we know he's a competitor when the lights are bright. Even with his slight build, he took a mediocre Hawks to the ECF a few years back. How does that Hawks team stack up to this Wolves team?

What would it look like with Trae paired with defenders like Ant, Jaden, Rudy, and whoever is slotted in at the 4 (assuming Towns is traded)?

While not Steph, players have to respect his 3pt shot. He's also a floater/lob threat which benefits Rudy.

On the flip side, Murray did avg 23-7-7 in his one playoff run with Atl in 22-23 (5 games) while Trae was 29-10-3.7 (6 games) that year. 2 of 3 seasons in the playoffs, Trae has avg 28+ppg and 9+apg, 21-22 was a poor showing though. I don't recall why that was as I didn't really pay attention.

Thoughts??

Gross.

I think Trae is super overrated. He's a good, but far from great, shooter and he's the worst defender in the game. He's 6'1 with a 6'2 wingspan and weighs under a buck seventy. He's always going to be hunted on defense and he doesn't have the physical ability to switch at all.

The one thing I like about his game is he gets to the line a ton. Something we need, but I'm jaded enough to think his foul-hunting style wouldn't fly as a Timberwolf...

And is he really a good Playoff performer, or does he just shoot a whole lot to get his numbers? He's a career 40/30 shooter in the postseason. He's only shot better than 33% from 3 in a single Playoff series in his career - and it was his very first one. Plus he's only a 2:1 AST/TO guy in the Playoffs as well.

Return to Minnesota Timberwolves
