Jayson Tatum, Derrick White Expected To Sign Contract Extensions During Offseason

The Boston Celtics are expected to sign Jayson Tatum and Derrick White to contract extensions this offseason, according to Marc Stein of The Stein Line.

Tatum is eligible for a five-year, $315 million extension, which league circles view as inevitable.

White's extension is also regarded as "near-certain," according to Stein.

Can someone explain how the Celtics can have 5 max / near max players? I thought the new luxury tax made this near impossible?

Is D White taking a pay cut to play for the Celtics? Surely he’s worth as much as OG Anunoby? Similar skill set but actually plays consistently?
