Just going to add to my own rant...
There's a good chance Caruso moves the needle for them. Was OKC really going to walk away from this trade if we held firm on asking for one of their 37 picks? Really?
Yeah, I'm not so mad about the player swap, but if there is one freaking team that would give you a pick, this is the one. It's pretty shocking.

Holy cow, great day for us!! We won a trade!!!
I love AC but Giddey is 21!!! We can give him the keys to the Offense and finally have an actual playmaker on the team. WOW!!!! This is an exciting day.
AC is also hurt a bunch and guna be 25 million a year soon. He's useless to us. This is great!!!

I think I'm approaching the point of fan rupture. Maybe this move will look genius and I will eat a pile of crow, but FFS man. This is what you turned AC into? After stupidly holding him at the deadline?

Basically if we traded for him after year 2, everyone would have been jumping for joy lol
He's a decent PG. But turning AC into Giddey just keeps us on the same hamster wheel. He is in no way a difference maker.
I disagree because Giddey is 21 years old. That is a huge change. It basically gives some indicators that we are going with a youth movement.
Again, look at his year 2 stats. That is the actual trajectory.
We'll only know that once we see what happens with DDR.
AK might think of Giddey as a Lonzo replace and not so much as a youth movement.

there isn't a chance in hell they would have said no if AKME just demanded one and told Presti to sleep on it. Why are we now so desperate to take the first offer on AC? We're playing ourselves.

It's wild how the Bulls, a brutally unlikable franchise and team, trade easily one of their most likeable (and impactful) players for this. They're just so lost from the captain seat down it's unbelievable.

Fellow Bulls fans. I beg you. Do not support this team anymore, they do not give a guck about us. Please do not buy anymore tickets or anything Bulls related. The Bulls front office have no vision. Do not buy anymore tickets until big changes are made.

What are the chances that Giddey is our PF next season?

Hate to keep saying but but if you've seen what has happened to the White Sox, none of this is surprising.

Re: Bulls trade Alex Caruso to OKC for Josh Giddey
In a vacuum, trading a superior role player for a much younger, basically mirror image (lots of offensive skills, mediocre D for superior defense w decent but limited O) isn’t bad. But it’s a clear misread of the market IMO. Caruso by all accounts was highly valued and sought after. Giddey fell out of the rotation, isn’t a great shooter (fits right in), is about to get expensive, and off court has image issues whether deserved or not.
It could pan out, he’s young, develop a bit and improve shooting and he could be an upper tier player. But it’s selling AC at near peak and buying Giddey at a low. Get picks and it’s decent but otherwise this feels like (another) ‘I know better than everyone else’ move by AK, and we know how often those have panned out for the Bulls to date…

AC is a back to back All-NBA Defense, where is the rest of the complensation especially with Giddey's value being so low with his off the court situation last season.
We have the most incompetent management in the NBA besides the **** show in Detroit.
You think Bulls get a young starter and a pick for Caruso? Lol
Absolutely, Giddy's value was non-existent due to his issues off the court, we're giving away a championship caliber All-NBA defender who plays both sides of the ball. Not to mention OKC has the most draft capital in the NBA.

We're already working on this lineup:
PF: Giddey
PF: Demar
C: Vuc
PF: Pat
SG: White
Zero spacing. Zero defense. Zero chance. Zach will be traded for peanuts and we'll try and win with Demar and crew.

Not playing him at PG heavily detracts from his on-court value. A 6'8" PG is a luxury, a 6'8" PF is run of the mill.

Agreed and if OKC walked away then the Bulls should be fine with that too. They could get something else for Caruso if need be.
My guess, and I've thought this for a long time, is that AK doesn't value picks.
EDIT: I'd like to add that I think he doesn't value picks because he did a poor job of pick protections with both the DDR sign and trade and the Vucevic trade. Plus, his comment about not wanting to pick that high again (when he drafted PW at #4).

100% nonsense. His value was hurt by his play which was in large part because of SGA.

Re: Bulls trade Alex Caruso to OKC for Josh Giddey
I do wish we got a pick or 2 in this trade, but i don't hate it either way. Giddey is young and versatile, though he has weaknesses to his game that this team as is will only magnify like 3pt shooting and limited defense, but despite caruso being hugely impactful, he has his flaws too.
Caruso is 30 and at the end of his contract. I highly doubt whoever signs him will get anywhere near the discount we did. He's also terribly injury prone which limits the games he can play and the minutes per game we can play him. Caruso isn't a bad shooter, but he isn't really good either and that's at low volume. He's a solid playmaker as the off-guard, but can't really create any offense.
Giddey is a good playmaker who was stuck being gilgeous-alexander (and for good reason). He also gives us size, which we desperately need and he's nowhere near his prime yet. I can't speak to his defense, but i haven't heard that he's some major liability on that end, just young and inexperienced like most players on their rookie contracts.
The biggest thing with this trade is giddey's fit on the roster. If this is the only trade this offseason, giddey will probably look worse than he really is, but if there are more trades to come that either fix roster weaknesses or we end up tanking then this trade looks like a positive to me.
