Matas Buzelis F - I believe he is the best prospect in this class and should be the clear cut #1. His athletic numbers are elite for his size, his shot mechanics are fine, he has flashed as a secondary playmaker and can both finish and lead a transition. He has Batum with a better motor / competitive streak upside. COMP - Detlef Schrempf
I agree, leaning towards selecting him #1 on my mock draft, and I also thought about a mixture of Schrempf & Hedo, with more athletisicm, as a COMP.
Ya, I believe he will have higher 3PT volume than Detlef and more BPG - but dont believe he is the same passer (Nor given the same opportunities to be a near lead ballhandler as Detlef did some years). Detlef had a 6apg year and a few at 4.5apg - I think Matas is more of a 3-3.5 apg guy if he pans out.
Dont think Matas has the efficiency Detlef did w/ his near 50% FG% and numerous 80+ FT% years. See him as more in the 45% and 75% range there w/ a 35% 3PT shot - but w/ better blocks (1.5) and rebounding (7-8).
So basically I think the optimal outcome for Matas is a elite 3rd option who may have some in his corner for a 2nd option, but that his value would scale down if given too much usage / leaned on too much. 18ppg / 7-8rpg / 3-3.5apg / 1.5bpg / 1spg / 45% FG / 35% 3PT / 75% FT w/ positional versatility on defense and while playing within the 'flow' of an offense rather than ball stop.
A bigger Deni is another comparison, but with better athleticism and IMO much more capable of scoring off cuts and such.
