OKC Offseason V2 (CHI)
Oklahoma City Trades
Josh Giddey F
Osumane Dieng F
2025 FRP (Lower of OKC / MIA)
2029 Highest SRP (Of ATL / BOS / HOU / MIA / PHX / OKC)
Chicago Trades
Pat Williams F (S&T w/ 18M AV)
Alex Caruso G
WHY FOR OKC
They apparently have interest in Pat Williams and here decide to make a move that secures him while bringing the win-now Caruso on board as well.
WHY FOR CHI
They move on from Alex and cash in Caruso while kicking the tires on both Giddey and Dieng + securing a future FRP and some SRP.
TRADE 2
Oklahoma City Trades
Isaiah Joe G
New York Trades
#24
WHY FOR OKC
Adding Caruso means that Joe slides to SG3 and with a new contract looming they elect to cash in on him.
WHY FOR NYK
They could really use some additional shooting from the guard spots and snag one for cheap while still retaining a FRP.
NBA DRAFT
#12 - Zach Edey C - Fills many needs (Rebounding, size, post defense) and will immediately be able to play 15-18mpg.
#24 - Tristan da Silva F - Classic do-it-all role player who is groomed to battle Pat for the PF spot moving forward.
2024/25 Roster
G - Shai Gilgeous-Alexander / Cason Wallace / Alex Caruso
G - Lou Dort / Alex Caruso / Aaron Wiggins
F - Jalen Williams / Aaron Wiggins / Alex Caruso
F - Pat Williams / Kenrich Williams / Tristan da Silva
C - Chet Holmgren / Zach Edey / Jaylin Williams
Josh Giddey F
Osumane Dieng F

Re: OKC Offseason V2 (CHI)
I would be really really disappointed if OKC went into an off-season and turned Giddey and Joe into Caruso and maybe nobody else in their playoff rotation.
OKC should aim much much higher than this.

Re: OKC Offseason V2 (CHI)
Yikes, I don't get it.
1) They turn an MLE-level player in Isaiah Joe into #24 when they are a Top 5 team in the NBA and a title contender?
2) They don't address either weakness, which are a consistent #2 option for SGA and Size in the Front-Court.
So yeah, this trade really misses everything for me as an NBA Fan. As a Timberwolves Fan, sign me up.

Re: OKC Offseason V2 (CHI)
This doesn’t make sense for OKC.
They have Cason Wallace who projects as an Alex Caruso-style player
Is Patrick Williams even worth a 1st rounder? Maybe they just send that lesser of 1st if the have interest?

I prefer if focus of upgrade is front court.
Get Caruso sure if we have a more ready upgrade in the front court.

Re: OKC Offseason V2 (CHI)
The team with Dort and Cason (and Wiggins, SGA, Jalen, Kenrich) shouldn’t be the top bidder for Caruso?
I’m giving Joe 13-16 million a year this offseason on a four year deal instead of him playing for 2 million and hitting UFA. If he turns it down, then I’m trading him (with whatever other value) for a future first. Don’t think you can know he turns it down until after the draft. You might just make him an RFA this offseason and match the best offer. But that’ll likely only be a three year deal?
Patrick Williams.. I like the target but I’m not paying much. I’d give up Dieng like in the other thread. Still have cap space to get a center or lock up Wiggins and Joe, then trade Giddey for a center.
OKC has way too many options for this to be best really.

Re: OKC Offseason V2 (CHI)
I don't get it for the Bulls unless several other moves happen. If they keep Lavine and or resign DeRozan Giddey, is a backup. He might even come off the bench behind Dosunmu if Ayo makes the same leap he did last off season. The Bulls are still empty at the PF position. Williams id 2 years older than Dieng and despite the injuries has done an awful lot MORE in his 4 years at the 4 when most feel he should be a 3.
If they move Lavine and don't keep DeRozan then they probably are doing a maybe short rebuild in which case Giddey will be under pressure to show much more than he has.
Yes the Bulls need to add back a 2025 pick, but #22 or higher isn't much to brag about, a 2029 SRP ? Name the Bulls' VP and GM FIVE years from now. No you can't.
Bulls need either a decent pick or a starter in return for Caruso because he and Williams have started most of the games in the past 3 years at the 4.

The idea would be to play Giddey at PF on defense where his foot speed is mitigated. Thats what he should have been doing this entire time IMO.
But realistically, its about getting young assets. If I was CHI I would move Zach for basically anything and run w/ -
G - Coby White / Jevon Carter
G - Ayo Dosunmu / Onuralp Bitim / Dalen Terry
F - Osumane Dieng / Julian Phillips / Dalen Terry
F - Josh Giddey / Tidjane Salun (11)
C - Nikola Vucevic / Goga Bitadze (MLE)
Then try to move Vuc at the DL - Goga might be a legit long term fit there as a low usage, rim protecting 5.

Nice idea with a Giddey based offer for Caruso.

I don't think OKC would pay him enough for the Bulls not to match.

Re: OKC Offseason V2 (CHI)
I don't see why the Knicks would used a 1st for a 6'3 SG that can't create for himself or other. They don't need to corner the
market on 6'5 and under guards.
