I don't know that I like this trade on it's face; however, it's not bad for either team. CHI gets Lonzo Ball insurance in a more complete package, while OKC gets a standout defender to strengthen their core. I'll give it two seasons to see which really took the lead as far as fit goes, but clearly OKC has a far bigger head start and a better constructed team as of right now.

Thunder won this trade but i'm just glad it looks like the Bulls are picking a direction and that looks like "rebuild"

Two first round picks. I am high on Caruso though. What’s so funny. Rumours were the Bulls were looking for first round picks at the time.

Denver isn't even able to trade two first round picks. They owe all of their tradable picks.

It's tough to hear, but our team isn't trading for anyone decent. They don't have anything to offer, unless a blind GM looks at Nnaji's contract and thinks he's good.

I love it, Giddey is getting seriously underrated because of the poor fit but showed great potential so far during his career.

Then there's the potatoes just slagging him off because they buy into the bull allegations off the court.

You say that now, but they're probably going to resign DeRozan and gun for 40 wins once again.

How does Giddey provide any Lonzo insurance? How is he a more complete package?

Giddey is a restricted free agent next summer, can’t really give it two seasons to see.

What a weird trade, and idk how the Thunder are crushing the poll.

Giddy is a solid young prospect who has been playing out of position, and asked to do everything he's not good at, while Caruso has realitically just been one of the more over rated role players living off of that bubble title run. I'm curious if he will be able to sustain his level of play.

I'd be a hypocrite though if I didn't say I was happy with the move on OKC's part, in the OKC thread I said Presti needed to learn from his mistakes, and overpay if need be this time around to get the team to where it needs to be. He did that with this move. No funny business, just overpaid for the player he knew would be a high impact role player.

It's obvious why they targeted Alex, they must be one of those teams pissed off watching the finals thinking that should have been them. Caruso was brought in specifically to play defense of the Kyries and the Lukas of the WC, and he should help improve their shooting as well. He played 70 games last year, so hopefully he can keep that trend going, shot 40% from 3, and was obviously an incredible defender. I think the team got better in those 20 minutes, and this indicates the league took notice of what Boston was doing, and how they built their team. Kudos to Sam for getting this done before a legit bidding war started. Will be interesting to see who they also trade for.

For the Bulls, this is also amazing. That got a solid prospect whos stock is as low as it could possibly get. They revamp the team essetially in one week adding him and the draft pick, and i'd expect Lavine now to be moved. I question the fit a bit given that the two best prospects on the Bulls currently are also 6'5 guards. I think it works as he can play with both, and I think Donovan is the perfect coach to help his succeed. I also like this trade because Bulls are going to need to use that cap space on someone once they clear their vets, and I much rather them do it on a player who averaged 16/8/7 as a 20 year old. Solid move overall. Will be interesting to see who they draft at 11.

Great trade for the Bulls. What people don't realize about Giddey is he's only 21 years old. He improved from 22% to 33% on 3 point shooting within a year. Given time, he could shoot at a 40% rate in a couple of years. He's also a triple double threat, and probably the best 6'9 ball facilitator since Magic Johnson. Here are some of his big games:

**17/13/14 43.8% @ DAL**

**24/4/8 52.6% @ SAC**

**20/6/10 50% @ UTA**

**23/6/8 57.1% @ BOS**

**28/11/12 50% @ NYK**

**31/10/9 63.6% @ CHA**

When Shai was out, he was averaging a near triple double. The Bulls got lucky; I don't think they are rebuilding. Giddey can do what Lonzo did and more.

I was hoping Presti would keep him and put him in the 2nd unit. The people who say he's not a good fit probably haven't watched a lot of Thunder ball, which is fine because the team is relatively new and upcoming.

I wouldn't rule out the possibility that he puts up some really good numbers while scoring inefficiently on a bad team that gets him paid. The playoffs though really highlighted his weaknesses that likely are going to be difficult to overcome.

I don't think one playoff series truly reflects what kind of player he is. He had a horrible year with the pedophile scandal and completely choked in the playoffs. Before that, he was integral to the Thunder's 1st seed and was the best player when the ball was in his hands when Shai was injured.

He's capable of averaging a triple D and already has more than all active PGs; only Doncic has more.

Lonzo Ball is spent. There's no hope for this guy. We saw what the Bulls are capable of when they have a PG. Giddey is better than Ball and has all star potential.

It's debatable the Thunder won this trade. I was hoping they would keep him.

Bro. Caruso’s the best 3&D guard in the league. Giddey was falling out of the rotation. This trade makes you the favorites to win the West.

They could trade their pick on draft day and a future first is what I was getting at. They could trade two if it was on draft day.

The Thunder don't really need Giddey. And Caruso just came off of an excellent season, I don't know what you're getting at there. Pretty much the ideal mix of three point shooting and physical perimeter defense.

Good luck if you're a guard trying to score on him, Dort and Wallace.

Dort and Caruso are going to be hell to deal with for opposing offensive players. Caruso is exactly what OKC needs. Going the other way, it will be fun to see what Giddey can do with a higher usage rate.

OKC does its Jedi mind trick again. Seems like OKC and Boston have the same control of the force.

Couldn't agree more. Caruso is a great role player for a legit contender. He doesn't do much for a mediocre play-in team.

Hes a 30 year old role player thats also due to get paid a hefty raise next year. Did anyone really think we were getting an elite 21 year old prospect with no flaws for him??

I love how people excuse Giddey being awful is, “he’s 21, he can still develop skills required to play the game of basketball”, as if the Thunder didn’t think of that too.

If Thunder thought Giddey is gonna turn out anything better then his current state of well…garbage, then they wouldn’t trade him.

woj is saying giddey is going to be the engine for the bulls offense so he's likely going to have the ball in his hands. he is pretty good when he gets to run the show. good trade for the bulls.
