marking this prediction down here in case it comes true: we're gonna somehow end up trading away our first round pick in a move to dump lavine (or maybe vucevic)

when i read that we're in talks with utah about a potential lavine deal, i had an immediate vision of ainge getting us to use pick(s) as sweetner in a deal built around zach for john collins

IT is about what they can net at this point. It is realistically this or a late 1st round pick and filler in most cases. There is a chance he can turn it around which is as likely as that late first rounder or maybe better. Downside is that he has to be resigned next year.

Yea but he's basically got a one year audition here. For a team that finds itself struggling to keep RFA (or the right ones) we're going to be pressed into another decision next summer.

What RFA have we struggled to keep?

Our lineup of under contract guys right now:

C: Vuc
PF: Giddey, Phillips
SF: Zach, Bitim
SG: Ayo, Terry
PG: Coby, Carter, Ball

Then we got #11, Demar's bird rights, Drummond's whatever rights, Patrick's RFA, and Torrey Craig's player option.

A 19 year old should be in jail for dating a 17 year old? People are insane.

I hooked up with a 17 year old all the time when I was 19. She’s upstairs right now watching a movie with our 20 old son.

Yea similar story although didn't marry her. A 16 year old asked me out when I was 18, we kept dating for about a year when I was 19 and she turned 17. Teens dating is normal. Hell we need more teens in gen z and alpha dating. It's good socialization.

I get making easy jokes but people that seem super serious about the "pedo throw him in jail" are insane people.

Was just about to make this post. He can't spot up. At all. He's like Vuc at his position. Maybe he improves, but bro, we are starting from a bad spot. I guess Lonzo learned to shoot...here's hoping.

I loved what Caruso brought to the team but we didn’t have the team in place due to injuries to maximize that opportunity. Giddy in a more prominent role is a near walking triple double and at 21 years old is in a better timeline with some of the younger players on the team. I’m more relieved that it seems like AKME has accepted it’s time to get younger and this is a very good building block for the future.

As much as I think AK has been an imbecile the last couple of years, I put the likelihood that this is exactly what is about to happen at about 70%.

This feels like it means what it logically should mean.

The data point that "15 offers have been floated around Lavine" intrigues me. But, I'm a show me fan at this point. Show me, I'll believe. Until then, I assume the worst, as we've seen that for awhile here.

I like Giddey, actually. As a more ball-dominant player his first 2 seasons he was very good (especially given his age). He reminds he a bit of pre-injury Ben Simmons actually - for better and worse. And there are a lot worse guys you could have than that. Advanced metrics are pretty solid, clearly has playmaking skills we desperately need. If he were a decent 3-point shooter he’d be a star, and he’s obviously not. But I think he’s a decent guy to bet on the upside with.

The issue is OKC has like a million picks and you’d have to think with even a halfway competent guy negotiating our side, you could get one of then. It does suck to always be the worse end of any battle of front office wits.

This trade sucks. AKME should have included Caruso in a trade with Lavine. Now we have another non-shooting guard. Maybe Bulls trying to tank for 2025

Listening to a lot of okc thunder media after this trade they all seem to have the same opinion. Giddy is a good player that wasn't properly utilized in the offense. They sort of played him how we played Lauri camped him out at the 3pt line when his game is cut and slash and he is at his best with the ball in his hands. As far as his shooting he is still young enough to improve their. And if they can make a reliable shooter out of ayo then they can do that for giddy as well. I like the addition. As far as the picks I don't know why we are still obsessed with adding a ton of worthless picks. Lol anyone who actually believed a team was going to trade a top 10 pick for Caruso, I got a bridge for sale in the west suburbs lol. Teams will heavily protect those and they become no more than what the portland pick is for us now. You don't mind them but I'm not blowing a gasket if we don't get them.

I don't have strong feelings about this trade. Certainly don't hate it. Giddey reminds me of a better Topic. More athletic, does all the little things well to score and make the offense work. His presence will do great things for everyone else on the court. At least on one side of the ball.

No real team would make this trade. No picks just seems literally insane.

cubd8 wrote:Trading Caruso does make sense. He's a very good role player, but he's often injured and now 30 years old. I don't mind that part. I think most people thought that trading with OKC would bring back draft pick(s). Giddey would be a 1st in this draft and he's still only 21, but I think a pick would have been guaranteed.

I think people think we'd get picks because its OKC and they have them is pretty silly. It's like thinking if you make a deal with a billionaire that they'll bend over just because they have lots of money instead of thinking they have lots of money because they don't make dumb deals.

We got a high upside/already solid player for an expiring 30 year old that gets injured with his play style.

There's no argument for this being a bad trade for Chicago, absolutely none.

You certainly could have gotten more for AC at the deadline when teams have the chance of having him for 2 playoff runs. Less playoff runs makes the value certainly godown.

I sort of agree, but it would be risky to hold on to him for that long and hope he stays healthy. The guy has had durability issues the last 3 seasons and I can't see them improving heading into next.
