He's just a solid role player who, unfortunately, has also had some injury issues over the years.
Back problems are why I would stay away from Melton.

looks like Monk just might not have taken meetings with other teams and wanted to stay

ORL dodged a bullet.
I am with you on this one. Not sure where the salary projections were coming from. I liked Monk before he signed originally with the Kings, granted I didn’t think last year would happen, it was an impressive year but he’s 26. Not sure how he would be anywhere close to other no defense guys like Simons or Herro, and those guys seem like they are taking up too much cap.
D’Angelo Russell is way more accomplished on offense and is only 2 years older than Monk, and is probably going to cost less than the 18-20% of the cap some of these other guards are making, and his defense isn’t quite as terrible as some of these other guys.
Knightro wrote:Fischer basically saying the Magic are only willing to go 1+1 for Klay, but that his salary for next year would almost assuredly be higher than anyone else is offering.
If he won't accept, they would likely pivot to KCP on similar terms.

This FO is going to do just enough to keep the franchise playoff relevant but never enough to be true contenders. Run it back + KCP = me caring a lot less about the Magic in 2024/25.

Seems like they are looking to add the right garnish to this terrific Lotto Talent dish. Let the lotto talent take us where they can.
Frankly, this is the right approach if you are focused on future value, which we should be I might add. Our core is all 22 years and younger and there just isn't enough space to add another core piece that we haven't already drafted.

Are any of the names getting kicked around better than Russell?
18pts 6 assists with 3 made threes a game at 42%. Kind of ticks the boxes. Who in this range can beat that, and sure he has his flaws, all the guys in that range do, if they didn’t, 1 they wouldn’t be available and 2 they would probably be maxxed.

Just incredible amount of C & D level players, part time starters, very specific & limited role players.
If your masterplan with $35M to spend in free agency is Melton, might as well tell fans to go f*** themselfs .
Magic had 2023-24 season with almost no injuries, matter of fact only big injury helped us ( Fultz) and when Carter was out we played very well with Goga. That gave us 47 wins and first round exit.
If your big addition is one of Sexton/Melton/ KCP or any other player of that caliber, without starting PG in sight, and you have just about average year in terms of injuries, you probably won't even win 47 games again and you will be first round exit again.
Magic need starting level PG. We are not one crappy mid level exception 3& D guy away from being great team. It's just East, and how average eveybody but Celtics are that gives you perception of false quality. I mean, Pacers ended up in ECF , that's how tough it is.
