Tim Legler Discussing New Contract With ESPN, Expected To Call More Games In Future

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Sat Jun 22, 2024 3:19 am

Tim Legler is in discussions with ESPN on a new contract, a source told Ryan Glasspiegel of the New York Post.

Legler is slated to color commentating for ESPN at Summer League as the network has begun to consider allowing him to call more games. Legler has long wanted to be in the booth more frequently despite his value on Sports Center with Scott Van Pelt. Van Pelt gave him a sendoff after Game 5 of the Finals that led to speculation he could leave ESPN, but it was rather meant as a concession he may not appear with Van Pelt as frequently in the future.

Legler called Game 3 of the Western Conference Semifinals between the Denver Nuggets and Minnesota Timberwolves in May.

ESPN lost one of its lead game analysts this offseason with J.J. Redick exiting to become head coach of the Los Angeles Lakers. ESPN isn't expected to make a decision on a replacement for Redick for several months, according to another report.
