I’m the biggest proponent of this trade. Look in prior threads, and I suggested this trade as perfect for both teams months ago. I just watched the two triple double links you posted. I have serious concerns that Giddey’s best passing skill to get three point shooters open may be wasted this year on this roster. We have Coby, Ayo, Pat Wil if resigned. No one else on the team to hit threes that he can get for them. We need more quick release three point shooters, really only Coby qualifies (and is why Giddey is a good fit with him.)
It’s also a reason that maybe we shouldn’t be so quick to dump Zach, he's a good fit with Giddey if he is willing to not be handling the ball too often. If trading Zach gets us pieces that are good shooters, plus extra draft capital and breaking up his big contract, then it is ok with me I suppose. Something like Huerter and Sacramento’s first. And Huerter could be a good bench shooter for us.
I also think its important that Giddey plays the point and Coby at the 2 because a lot of the benefit of Giddey is his size and if you have the smallest player on the court be the 6’5’’ strong Coby, then Giddey is going to have mismatches inside to rebound and finish inside.
Makes me think we need to absolutely draft more shooting, and im talking about quick deadly shooting. Makes Knect a good fit, but of course the problem is we need size and defense and shot blocking in the front court too. So bottom line is, we have a few years of roster building to do before we really can judge Giddey’s value imo.
We have Martell Webster. He's called Kyle Korver here, and we shall love him and squeeze him and call him Ashton. -BrooklynBulls
