IDK, I'd want a center. I mean even if you got BCS and got Brook Lopez. Chet would only have to play a few minutes of PF a half to get BroLO 24 mpg. I don't think OKC is giving up any advantages there at all.
Considering OKC strength now is guards, I want guaranteed 48 mins of strong C play. You can have Chet play 4 mins out of position if needed. It’s better for him in the long run too.
Even at 26 / 30 mins split between both . That’s only 2 mins a quarter one is playing at PF.

I’ve always thought Rui would fit OKC like a glove.

The question is would it be beneficial to the Thunder to have a bigger center on the roster as well--even if they aren't 5 out. I tend to think teams should just build their own best roster and not design something to deal with one team. But I would be aware that the best player in the world sits in my conference and is huge. And I don't want a series where its Chet, until he's in foul trouble and then its Williams.
I think you saw even against Dallas with two just rim running centers how badly they hurt OKC. Lakers have AD/Lebron. Wolves are huge. Zion is out there.

I'd want options to play multiple ways. Play big, play small, play 5 out, have a rim runner. Vertical spacing is very much spacing too.
As you outlined with the BroLo discourse it's really about not bringing in another 5 that will require/demand the necessary minutes that would slide Chet away from that position. I know people wanna point to the rebounding difference in the Dallas series but more alarming to me was that OKC went from the best team league wide in 3pt% to not being able to hit the broad side of a barn (all while PJ Washington and DJJ went supernova from distance)
Huh?
BroLo could be
1) On a minutes restriction, both RS and PS
2) Sit 20+ games
3) Allow Chet to play 68-72 games and rest
There isn't really a logical thought process to concourse BroLo forces Chet to play meaningfully more PF.
BroLo plays 28 MPG at 60 games in the RS. That's 1680 minutes. Center position has 3936 Minutes in the RS. That leaves 2200+ Minutes at Center.
In the PS, BroLo as a drop big gives some real headway against teams like Denver, Minnesota, Lakers and Kings as a massive size increase to match their size but not sacrifice spacing. Then, in a series against an elite P&R handler and 5-out spacing or 4-Out with an elite rim runner, BroLo's minutes can decrease.

Okc has a great thing going with a lot of great young players. There is no way I would touch that guy.Diop wrote:sign n trade for miles bridges

I used the Brolo discourse as an example because the minutes aspect was already litigated. My post doesn't really deal with him specifically--just using the discussion surrounding him to point out what should be considered. I think at his age there would be legitimate interest from both sides for him to play primarily in a bench role.

Re: Starting PF for OKC
Yeah I want Brook or Kessler or someone similar in the backup 5 role, with a 24-26 mpg expectation. Non Chet minutes have killed OKC.
I’m ok overpaying for that role in assets or salary given the importance.
But I also want to get a 4 who can play a little 3. Again ideally Lauri. A player who can rebound and shoot and doesn’t necessarily need the ball to be effective.

Re: Starting PF for OKC
I sorta like the idea of an overpay for Kessler while moving salary that opens up a bigger offer for PG13.
Kenrich Williams (6.67), Osumane Dieng (5.03), Isaiah Joe (2.16), higher 2025 FRP b/t OKC / MIA for Walker Kessler (2.96)
OKC moves 13.86M, takes on 2.96 for a net cap space increase of 10.9.
I think that gives them a max slot to offer PG13.
G - Shai Gilgeous-Alexander / Cason Wallace / Alex Caruso
G - Lou Dort / Alex Caruso / Lindy Waters
F - Jalen Williams / Aaron Wiggins / Torrey Craig (VM)
F - Paul George / Chet Holmgren / Tristan da Silva (#12)
C - Chet Holmgren / Walker Kessler / Jaylin Williams

Re: Starting PF for OKC
What about simply signing Tobias Harris to a 2 Year deal? Something like 26,000,000/24,000,000?
OKC adds a PF, doesn't impede 2026-2027 Salary when Chet and JDub are due contracts.

I dont think Harris should be getting more than Barnes got last year.

I think Harris is clearly better. The question is "how much better". I could see something in the lower 20's, but I would be surprised if Harris was under 20 AAV.

If there's interest in a bench spot from BroLo in the interests of doing the Horford thing, he would be the ideal guy. Keep him limited during the season, use him more in the playoffs, have him as a "break glass in case of emergency" guy for matchups, and he's a steady vet with championship experience.
I also agree it'd be nice to have a 3/4 with some size.
