We are in a title window , not sure that adding youth is the way to go. Rumours out there that Isaiah steward from Detroit is available , we need another vet big that can bang to get us through the long season

If you have a creative method of acquiring his 15M salary without giving up one of our starting 5, I’m all ears

We can’t aggregate (stack) multiple salaries under second apron rules, nor can we take back more money than we send out in a trade. We only have a $3.9 million trade exception. There is no way to trade for a salary that big except for sending out Derrick White (or another starter) which we wouldn’t want to do.

The only thing we could possibly do, and I don’t know if it’d be 100% legal under the cap rules, is to resign one of our free agents whose bird rights we have, ie Luke Kornet or Xavier Tillman, to a multi year contract at a salary number just above the $15 million Stewart makes, then wait until Luke is trade eligible in a few months and then trade Luke plus draft picks for Beef Stew.

redslastlaugh explained how you could do it.
I've always liked Stewart, bug how much better is he than Tillman, really?

There's not.
Nothing wrong with having a different opinion - as long as it's done respectfully. It'd be lame if we all agreed on everything :)

Updated list of Celtics pre-draft workouts.

Never heard of Moses Wood, who was just added. But something tells me he is gonna have his number up in the TD garden rafters one day..just kidding, maybe..

I think we're in the quiet resign guys, draft role players, minimum salary role player / reclamation project stage. No complaints here. Last off-season was similar. Maybe we keep #30 since opportunity to grab talent outweighs tax concerns. Still think we trade down until early 2nd rd.

Note that among Dadiet workout stops is Brooklyn. The Nets have no picks in this draft but are flush with future 1sts and 2nds … possible trade up partner with Boston if they want #30.

I've seen Day'Ron Sharpe might be available, so perhaps Brooklyn uses Sharpe to get a draft pick?

Maybe the Nets can trade the rest of Sharpe without his bad knee.

This is the post in which I admit I've paid absolutely no attention to the draft this year and have no idea who's even on the Celtics radar. I guess I could read this thread but that seems like it would require more ambition than I can currently muster haha.

This is the only thread safe from my spambotting. Be thankful that my programming doesn't include college players/draft knowledge input.

Spurs have 4 picks this draft like the Blazers.
Blazers are nicer for this draft at 34 & 40.
Spurs are better for future. 35, 48 & a 2028 2nd or something.

Spoiler:
That way at least if we have to give up that swap for the disastrous White trade we get something extra back from them in 2028

I'm really starting to lean towards high upside youth with the #30 pick: AJ Johnson, Pacome Dadiet, Nikola Djurisic

Then hopefully a guy -- Adem Bona? -- at 55 for front court depth.

The team already has a championship caliber rotation and needs to get those extensions done. Then there's Tillman, Brissett, Kornet -- probably keep two. Then there's development of Queta, Springer, Walsh and possibly Davison.

And I expect there will be one move to bring another vet in after the extensions are done, maybe before camp.

So I doubt there is going to be minutes for a rookie. More likely that the Maine guys from last year will graduate and we'll have the new picki move nto 2-Way. At least, that seems to be Brad's MO for developing players.

95% likely Brad trades down from 30 into the second round

Return to Boston Celtics
