Toronto Blue Jays infielder Orelvis Martinez has been suspended 80 games after testing positive for Clomiphene, a performance enhancing substance, MLB announced Sunday.

Clomiphene is used to induce ovulation (egg production) in women. WTF???

He should have told the team doctors, but this is absolutely the sort of stupid mistake that a kid who is embarrassed about his fertility would make.

I hope he can get back on track for next season. Is he still allowed to train with the team while suspended?

If you buy his story as something more than the regular excuse that these athletes give when they get caught.

What I’m more interested in is how long ago the Jays knew he tested positive and why exactly they would have brought him up if they knew this was coming down the pike.

If I watched this team's offense this season for the last 3 months and I was forced to play for them, I would consider PEDs too, I won't lie

...I mean, I wouldn't consider PEDs, I would just show up and hit the ball once in every 5 plate appearances and be the best hitter on the team.

Curious how this "fertile" drug enhances performance.

Well atleast we won't see people complain about playing him and atleast Atkins can't trade him for a silly win now move.

I’d assume Orelvis himself knew before Saturday morning but that doesn’t mean the Jays did.

And the drug enhances testosterone. It certainly wouldn’t be the first time a baseball player used a women’s fertility drug as a performance enhancer (Manny Ramirez).

If you believe his story he started talking this "fertile" drugt this past off season. So very least since Jan of this year.

If he took it last year he would been busted then though he may got lucky and they didn't test him last year when he was AA/AAA

The question is how is his effortless power without the juice

Fertility drugs can also be used to mask other substances being used in your system. I guess we'll see how he performs when he returns.

From what I read, and its possibly BS (I know nothing on the topic) its a drug that is used at the end of the steroid use cycle to make the process more effective.

There has been enough BS excuses over the years (and Manny has been caught with this as well), that I have a hard time giving much benefit of the doubt when someone is caught. I'll out this one at 90/10.

I think it might have been Chris Colabello, although I can't find any articles referencing the dog.
But I certainly remember an interview, where someone brought up the possibility of it having something to do with his dog.
