Nuggets/Pistons/Jazz
Nuggets trade: Porter Jr/ #28
Nuggets get: Collins/Grimes/#32
Pistons trade: Grimes/top 55 2nd
Pistons get: Porter Jr/#28
Jazz trade: Collins/#32
Jazz get: top 55 2nd
Jazz clear more cap space to add talent even factoring in a raise this year for Lauri.
Pistons use their cap space to get a talented player and get a 1st for Grimes.
Nuggets replace Porter with Collins while adding a wing defender and only drop 4 spots.

Pass on trading MPJ. I'd rather trade a 1st for Grimes and have him be the KCP replacement.

At this point? Why not.
We need guys who can put the ball in the hoop. MPJ isn’t great value on that deal but I doubt whoever we sign instead would be either.

I’d do #29 instead of #32 if necessary.

Re: Nuggets/Pistons/Jazz
What is MPJ really worth? Pistons have $60M in cap space that should net them 3 good players. MPJ takes up over half of that plus we lose a rotation player in Grimes, so it’s like a loss of 2.5 players. Close but I’d want more giving up that much cap space.

Can you define good players?

Re: Nuggets/Pistons/Jazz
I wouldn't mind just taking MPJ for ourselves and starting Hendricks at center. 3 guys from 6-10 to 7-0 who can shoot in the frontcourt.

Two starters and a rotation player?

He has hit it though. It boils down to how optimistic you are about the free agent market for the Pistons.
Me personally? I’m not thrilled about what a 14 win team in a weak FA market can pull in.

I agree that it won’t be easy, and more money doesn’t guarantee anything (eg Monk). So that probably means no OG, Hartenstein. I know this list isn’t sexy, but would help us a lot:
Derrick Jones Jr (4x$25)
Miles Bridges (4x$25) (I know you don’t want him)
Kelly Oubre (3x$10)
Goga Bitadze (3x$6)
Then extend Fontecchio (4x$18)
I don’t even know what our depth chart looks like at that point, but everyone would be fighting for minutes. Something like this?
Cade/Sassar
Ivey/Thompson/Grimes
Jones Jr/Fontecchio/Oubre
Bridges/Stewart
Duren/Stewart/Bitadze

Are those totals or yearly estimates? Because if you pay Jones that much money yearly it's immediately one of the 5 worst contracts in the NBA.

4x$25 is 4 years at $25M per. Yes, an overpay, but that’s probably what Detroit will have to do to attract free agents.

I think 3/45 can get him for Detroit.
Miles Bridges (4x$25) (I know you don’t want him)
4/120 Minimum here
Kelly Oubre (3x$10)
I think he is an MLE guy.
Goga Bitadze (3x$6)
Decent value at tax MLE (which this is). Maybe something like Londale's contract? Higher Value, some Unguaranteed.
Then extend Fontecchio (4x$18)
Yup.

Re: Nuggets/Pistons/Jazz
I know 99% of Jazz fans disagree with me, but I have zero interest in dumping Collins.
"Thibs called back and wanted more picks," said Jorge Sedano. "And Pat Riley, literally, I was told, called him a mother-bleeper and hung up the phone."

I would rather cut Denver and just absorb Collins deal and keep Grimes

ironic considering the post just above yours lol, but I think if Detroit wants him, that deal should get done. Utah can then re-sell that space while still being able to re-do Lauri.

Yeah that's just the Detroit Pistons watching a competent team and drooling

I feel ya. Minnesota was there 4 years ago.

Decent list. I'd add Melton and Bitadze as possible targets. However, I'm less focused on exactly who we sign, and more interested in making sure that whoever it is, they are on a fair contract.
We should be in asset accumulation mode. I'd rather trade for negative-value contracts (assuming we get some incentive for taking them) than sign a FA to a contract that immediately is underwater i.e. would require an asset attached to move).
In a no-win argument, the first poster to Let It Go will at least retain some peace of mind

Good point. Ironically, as bad as we were last year, we really have no bad contracts. Rookie deals and Stewart are all okay. I don’t mind slight overpays for average sized contracts. We just can’t get ourselves into a Lavine, Beal or Poole situation that is really expensive to get out of, if even possible.
