Reading between the lines of what Scotto is saying... The Knicks used PG as a leverage option if they couldn't keep OG but, it seems like they plan on keeping OG no matter what so maybe the PG thing was a giant smokescreen/CAA favor for PG to try to gain leverage on the Clippers :dontknow:

The Paul George stuff never made sense. It would’ve been impossible with the new CBA.

We need to have the draft during the NBA Finals and start free agency after the Finals MVP ceremony.

Interesting to see him get paired with Allen and Levert again. He’s also a very good guard coach so I see the appeal for Mitchell.

Even if you could sign and trade Burks to a third team (36/3 with the first year guaranteed) in exchange for a pick (to have outgoing salaries higher than the PG13 salary, to be hard-capped at the second apron instead of the first apron), it would not work.

Brunson, Randle, OG(35), PG, Hart, Donte, IHart and Deuce would totalize around 189,5M. The same value as the second apron. And we would have to sign more 7 or 8 players yet.

I've been saying this for months.

If the KNICKS keep OG and iHart, they would need to get rid of a big salary to bring in the "star" player they've been hoping to get. If PG is who they want, the logical person to be traded would be Julius. We can't afford Ju, iHart, OG, and PG -- unless a 3rd team gets involved.

So, prepare yourselves because IF we find the "star" player, Julius probably ends up as the odd man out.

Even if the third team gets involved, we can not.

We have to attach salaries to get PG13. THus, we will be sure hard-capped in the second apron (around 189M)

Brunson (25), Randle (30), OG(35), PG (49), Hart (18), Donte (11), IHart (16) and Deuce (5) would totalize around 189M. We already hit the second apron and we still need 6 players to complete the roster (14).

what happens in this hypothetical? are we then not even allowed to sign vet min players to fill out the roster? i assume there must be a clause to account for that possibility.

CAA doing everything they can to make sure PG gets his max makes a lot more sense than the Knicks being legitimately interested in PG.

The league won't approve the transaction, since counting minimum roster holds etc Knicks would be breaking the hard cap line.

PG is a teammate to James harden.

he received a 3 year max offer from the nets. he declined it and opted into his 1 year option believing he would get another max contract offer. he never ended up getting that max contract offer after his opt in.

PG is 34.

he isn't opting in, whoever is advising him that this is a viable pathway is doing him a crime as a 34 year old professional athlete.

its CAA manipulating the market to make sure PG gets his max offer. and he will take it.

got it that makes more sense - there would be cap holds for mins accounted for.

The Strickland
@TheStrickland
Virginia F Ryan Dunn has excelled in workouts and may have played his way out of the Knicks' range, according to multiple reports

Dunn is "gaining steam" to get drafted in the early 20s after "a slew of outstanding workouts" this month, per ESPN's @DraftExpress
.

ESPN has Dunn going at No. 22 to Phoenix in today's mock draft.

Several teams have said Dunn "exceeded expectations with his shooting while also doing some absolutely mesmerizing things defensively in guarding point guards through centers in group settings."

HoopsHype's @MikeAScotto
reported today that "some in New York believe Dunn will be off the board" when the Knicks are on the clock at No. 24.
