Woj: The Cavs have hired Kenny Atkinson as their coach
Personally I think this is the guy the Lakers should have hired. But I guess, why would you want someone with coaching experience to coach your franchise?

Happy for Kenny Atkinson, he gotta raw deal with the craziness of Brooklyn before but this is a great job for him to develop and strengthen that team.

Probably means James Borrego is likely to be hired by the Pistons as their new coach

For some odd reason, I really feel like this hire will single handily propel Mitchell to resign.
Great hire and perfect fit.

Good for Kenny and it was a wise move not to take the bobcat’s job.

Re: Woj: The Cavs have hired Kenny Atkins as their coach
It was ridiculously unprofessional to accept a NBA head coaching job and then pull out at the last minute citing “family reasons/ wanting to stay in SF”, then turn around and start interviewing for dozens of other jobs the next year.
If he turned down the job that’s one thing. But he accepted it, he said yes to an offer.
This place just has a complex about the less successful franchises in the league, if he pulled that crap on any other team in the league he’d be rightfully criticized for what was a cowardly and total bush league BS stunt.

I've always been a fan of Kenny, seems like a great coach.
What I'm not a fan of, is I think this lowers the chances of Mitchell looking for a trade and resigning.

I completely agree with you but on the other hand
1. He was right to be concerned about the role and fit, especially considering the guy they hired instead is already gone
2. It’s better and more ethically to back out of the job than it is to check out of the job. I bet pistons fans wish Lonty backed out instead of quiet quitting

You're an adult, get over it, it didn't or doesn't have a direct impact on your everyday life. Grow up.

I’m making valid and fact-based criticisms of a professional basketball coach. Why do I need to grow up? Who are you to tell me something like that?

We don't know what was going on behind the scenes. This hiring has really dragged out with the Cavs, and presumably he's been doing his due diligence - hence all the reports from the media weeks ago.
It's possible he felt pressured in to taking the Charlotte job ("take this now, or we're making the same offer to Borego"), and then when given a chance to consider the opportunity further he decided it wasn't the right fit. It's possible he discovered something about the franchise that concerned him, but that he hasn't shared.
He reportedly changed his mind on June 18th just a week after accepting it, so, things did not get very far down the road.
But hating on a player or coach is certainly a fan's prerogative.

Unless your stance is fan shouldn't care about their team his grievance is legitimate. It is more legitimate than a lot of things people whine about on this board.

If he signed up to be the coach of your team and then backed out a weak later would you be a fan?
