Rockets/Heat/Grizzlies
Rockets decide to go for it, Grizzlies realize the time is not yet right, Heat move on from the aged team to a semi-start.
Rockets trade FVV, Landale, 1 of (Green, Whitmore, Eason, Thompson), and #3
Rockets receive Smart, Butler
Rockets trade in 1 current young member plus the #3 for FVV and Landale (who they are shopping). The return is Playoff Jimmy and Smart. Together those 2 can lead the remaining young players to the playoffs and perhaps further.
Grizzlies trade Morant, Clarke, #9
Grizzlies receive FVV, Landale, 1 of (Green, Whitmore, Eason), #3 and #15
Grizzlies decide on a minor reboot. The time is not now to make the big run but to continue building. With #3 Memphis gets Clingan and runs a frontcourt of JJJ and Clingan. #15 allows Grizzlies to either pick a future PG (Carter/Collier/Carrington) or hope for a falling Holland, Williams - options are open.
Miami trades Butler, #15
Miami receives Morant, Clarke, #9.
Miami gets the PG they need to partner with Adebayo. Moves up in the draft to reach for Holland, Saluan, or perhaps a too soon to pick backup center in Edey, Ware (better option may be to see if NYK would trade #24/25 and a future for #9 and still get a quality position - Holmes, the falling center, etc..).
Anyway it is a big cost for Houston to go all-in but it cannot be for free.
Memphis has to pivot from thinking it is ready to compete with Denver, Minnesota, OKC and realize it's best chance is a few years from now.
Miami makes the transition on the fly and stays competitive in the East.

Re: Rockets/Heat/Grizzlies
RE Rockets: I just can't see them trading FVV, #3 and a prospect for Smart and Butler. I don't think the direction is right for them and the fit is horrible. Could you imagine the spacing of Smart/Butler/Jabari/Amen/Sengun?
RE Grizzles: This was the re-tool year. They aren't going to sit on their hands another season. I can't fathom Memphis saying "Yeah, let's just not return to a Top 3 team in the West like we were in 2022 and 2023".
RE Heat: Value is way off here. I have Morant > Butler and #9 + Clarke > #15
Regardless of the direction of the teams being not something I find realistic, the Rockets are paying for Ja Morant but end up with Marcus Smart.

"rockets decide to go for it"
Define it.
FVV to smart is a downgrade on the floor for them and I'm not trading a top pick for butler for this team. Selling out for a 5th seed-ish team is not a good idea

From the Grizz perspective, the OP should be reported to moderators as a provocative ***.

Why don't you ever take the highroad yourself and do what you say should happen instead of posting about someone else doing it?

This thread is about the OP, not me. I just tried to be creative in highlighting how out of reality the OP is from the Memphis perspective.

Well you got yourself reported for the same. So congrats. Since you have nothing useful to contribute(again), take a break. I hate to suspend people during the off-season, but you continue to go down this path and that's not fair to the posters trying to actually contribute something.

Would you show me an example of positive contributions if I open the thread offering #3 and Eason for Doncic? Anyway, let’s see how positive will be the contribution from the other Griz fans here.

I think it is difficult to gauge Morant's value. As a basketball player in a vacuum he is great. But when you take in his "extra-curricular" habits, he gets dinged.
If the Rockets want to make the run, they have to pay the fee. The Rockets are getting a player with a short amount of time left but has proven he can lift a team. Add in Smart as a defensive PG who can teach the younger players. Rockets are getting a good return for a player making half as much as FVV.
If Butler and Smart are good enough as leaders, then the Rocket youth will gain the knowledge and ability to keep the team winning.

I cannot stress how bad this is for Grizzlies

I mean it would be easy to say Luka Doncic is worth more than Eason and #3, so Dallas does not consider this.
No insults, no backseat moderating. Just stating how the value is off.
There is a difference between missing on value like the OP, but earnestly believing you are getting it correct, and intentionally responding in a way you know is not constructive.

Re: Rockets/Heat/Grizzlies
Terrible trade for Memphis. We trade the best player who is also the youngest on a discount contract and receive Fred as the headliner back. Miami may get what Philly got when they traded for Jimmy initially.

Bad for Houston.
Bad for Memphis.
Miami can't sign the paperwork fast enough.

Re: Rockets/Heat/Grizzlies
This is really bad for Memphis. First, if they were looking to trade Morant, they wouldn't be including the 9th pick. They certainly wouldn't have to. That seems counterintuitive.
Second, why wouldn't Houston cut Miami or and take Ja for themselves? Seems far smarter to me.
Finally, Miami is just sucking value that we don't deserve. If Ja were coming to Miami we'd have to include every prospect and every pick and we wouldn't also be getting the #9

Butler is not.
Butler is still very valuable. It doesn't always have to be all or nothing. His age/health/contract status definitely depress his trade value but he's still a top 15ish player in the league. That's very, very valuable.

Morant would be a nice get - for Houston.
Love butler but not best fit.
Texas is a gun state so morant would be good here.
