This is so stupid. He has zero experience coaching at any level it's an insult to those players who put the work in and grinded to get where they are as assistants.

I'm not sure why people are shocked, most reputable sources have said exactly this. Lebron seemed to have mostly stayed away from any hiring.

lol, I still can’t believe they hired this guy!

And is he trying to be edgy by dropping F bombs? What’s the point?

That's how JJ talks on his podcast, so nothing new, definitely going to be interesting to watch how the season goes for him and the Lakers.

Not like they have much to talk about in regards to that, Lebron already had his opinion about Redick as an x and o's guy and it is positive, so nothing new to go over.

Also Lebron likely wants to avoid people saying he picked the coach or any of that, even more so if he decides to leave the team based on something like where Bronny goes.

If Redick wasn't hired for Lebron why was he hired? You don't think someone like sam cassell who has put the work in throughout the league wouldn't have been a better choice.

It's a joke and I hope it fails spectacularly like all these recent coaches fresh out of the NBA have. To me the crazy part is teams keep doing this.

Jason Kidd is still employed as an NBA head coach.

Not with the club who first hired him or the second club for that matter. If the Lakers want to give him on the job training so that a couple of years he can be a good headcoach somewhere else fine.

But coaches like Sam Cassell already have the experience and are actually capable of the role.

You might have missed the subtext, I was offering Jason Kidd as an example of the joke coaches the NBA keeps hiring because they were good players.

My bad also having a conversation about Paul George as well so just skimming the responses.

Reading it over again yes the subtext went right over my head

Talking on your own podcast or with your mates, you can do what you like.

I miss the days of professional behaviour when you are representing your employer (Lakers AND the NBA) and talking to listeners that you know will contain children.
The stupid argument that kids will hear it anyway it pathetic. They should hear a professional speaking that shows that those words are okay to use when your old enough to determine the right situation, which is not at a press conference.

I swear/cuss like a trooper when the situation suits, but not when I'm at work or in a meeting or at the shops being served by a staff member etc.

I miss the David Stern days of the NBA's expectations of professionalism.

Did anyone ask him why, in his opinion, he can coach better without any experience than other coaches who have been assistant coaches for years waiting for their chance?

I mean you miss the professionalism. I miss the days when people were more introspective and would say things like, "I am not ready to coach. I need to go out and learn the craft first." It would not be fair to the players I coach or myself to enter the coaching profession unprepared.

Well, that is just me. People have no shame now I mean what would the player JJ Redick think of the coach JJ Redick? Most likely, he would laugh in his face.

I agree with that as well....

Nothing to do with my post on cussing/swearing though.

It won't be long until the media pile onto JJ after a few losses.

Unfortunately, JJ always thinks he's the smartest guy in the room. That's not to diminish his knowledge or ability, he is obviously knowledgeable, but in his media role, he was quick to belittle other's opinions that differ from his.

People eating crow knowing LeBron had nothing to do with the hire and he never spoke to JJ about the job. To have the discipline to not talk to your friend about his potential employer that you have worked for is truly admiral. I know I'd ask a friend about a job if he has Intel...

If JJ was hired for LeBron, then why was Dan Hurley offered the job first?

As a Lakers hater, i am really scared he's going to be a good/great coach. Not this year and hopefully after LeBron is gone so they won't win the title the next 3-4 years.
If there is no basketball in heaven, i am not going.

If LeBron retired and wanted to be a head coach in the NBA, do you think he would ‘put in the work in and grind’? He’d get a gig fast.

Nick Wright said it best:

"Either you were in on it or you were too dumb to know what was happening. Either all along you didn't expect to get this guy and it was a ruse for PR or you really thought you were getting him and you couldn't get him."

It was the Lakers making it look like they were really looking for the best candidate and not just hiring LBJs podcast buddy. Didn't fool anyone (oh maybe you).
