If you're reading this Marcus just know that last night my son and I agreed our next male dog will be named Barcus Smart. Undecided on if we'll dye the top of his hair green or not.

Can't believe you guys traded Smart thats like losing your Heart, soul & balls all the time same time. Should of been a Celtic Lifer.

I recognise it was a move with great value that likely will make our team better, but I'm still sad about it.

This interview, i love it. That's Marcus Smart for you. He could've have been mad, give one line answers and rude, he choose to be thoughtful and genuine. No shade thrown, no bad blood just honest and emotional.

Really? Smart thinks that any time the C's discuss the possibility of trading a player, however improbable it may be at the point of discussion, the organization should reach out to the player to alert them that they mentioned the player's name? But then also tell players when it doesn't look like a trade is going to happen? But then also proactively reach out to the player to let him know he has been discussed again?

Yup.. Reminds me of when I was a Kings fan and we lost Williams for Bibby.

To his credit, he did clearly also say that he knows it’s a business multiple times. Think he just couldn’t help but vent a bit of the emotions he was feeling.

Can’t wait til he comes back to Boston, gets an all-time tribute video, and launches 13 threes.

Huh. This goes against what we’ve been told for several years. That Smart has been overvalued in Boston and that no one else values him that high blah blah blah.

Was listening to Bill Simmons latest podcast and he mentioned that Marcus Smart is really hurting right now/been off social media for a couple of weeks ago.

Makes me so sad, he won't read this, but I do wish I could reach out and tell Marcus he will always be a Celtics fan favourite and I wish we could give him an honorary ring.

This is the only part of #18 I honestly feel bad/sad about, we had to do that deal (Bill also explained to help with the growth of Jaylen and Jayson) but it still does hurt.

I so wish Cobra could have been a part of our championship team.

I still love him and will always respect him and I hope he finds some happiness and success in the future with the Grizz (or any other team)

As infuriating as Marcus was, we wouldn't have win many playoff games and series in the past without him.

We’ll win it all next year. But the quest for a 3peat will fall short as the energy wanes a bit. Brad will rejuvenate it with the vet minimum returns of Smart and Rob Williams in the 2026 offseason, we’ll win our 3rd in 4 years and the prophecy will be fulfilled.

If only Marcus accepted the utility guy role that Jrue embraced this season.

The report that said Marcus was gone even if it was Brogdon for KP says it all.

Ownership already made up their mind about Smart.

Smart thought he was on equal footing with the Jays.

The Jays were set free when Marcus left.

Rumors flying that Memphis will trade Smart/#9 to Houston for #3 so they can draft Clingan. Maybe the issue in Boston was Joe because it looks like Ime would love to get him back on his team.
"I think the criticism's stupid," Stevens said. "So I don't care. I'm with Jaylen (Brown) on that. Those two had achieved more than most 25 and 26 year olds ever had. I'd rather be in the mix and have my guts ripped out than suck."

Plenty of rumours at the time was that Smart would not always do what Joe asked and wasn't happy about Ime being gone.

They were just rumours, but had a lot of smoke. If true Marcus had to go regardless of how much I love him, can't have the tail wagging the dog.
