If he plays the 4 in the NBA the bar of shooting is way lower than someone who plays the 1 or the 2. The looks will be cleaner, more catch and shoot, more corner threes.

I would be fine with Matas, as I like the versatility, he brings on both ends. He can play both forward spots, can protect the rim, can shoot enough even the percentages are scary hours right now.

Not for nothing, but once Holland went out, Buzelis was counted on as the primary playmaker for GLI. I consider this out of position and his stats took a hit because of it. To your point, he's going to be way more off ball in the NBA, which will give him more quality looks and we should see a bump in the shooting numbers.

...The closest comps in my database are

Ziaire Williams, Johnny Furphy, Matas Buzelis, Jake Layman, Joe Ingles, Omri Casspi, Bobi Klintman, GG Jackson, Paul George, Steve Novak, Tristan Da Silva, Sam Dekker, Donte Greene, Chandler Parsons

Parameters:
Height: 6'7.5-6'10
Weight: 188-222
Wingspan: 6'8.5-6'11.5

Note: There are other names (total 37)
-- Also, I gave the weight a pretty large buffer here since Matas said his playing weight he wants to be at is 210

Feels like a lot more SF types than PF types on this list. Definitely interesting because I think a lot of people are projecting him to play the 4.

I assume Matas Buzelis compares quite closely with Matas Buzelis :D

Thanks for posting that interview! The thing I love about Buzelis is his self confident determination to succeed. He and Castle both have that in them. Perhaps Risarcher and Sarr do too, just haven’t read anything on their character traits. We know Sheppard is a gym rat…Knecht also. Clingan by all accounts puts in the work.

I do think Matas will succeed as player, just not sure how far. He needs more strength but he’s still growing, and his frame can handle it. He’s not lightweight like Cody Williams is.
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

Guess this take was accurate. Lot of teams bought into it obviously.
