How do you come to that conclusion ?

Is it not possible it could be to avoid a player/s about to get a salary bump ?

For instance if it's Murray, he goes from 18 - 25m where Atlanta might want to attach Capela to open a spot for a 5 they're about to draft.

Murray at 18m + Capela 20m = 38m, Murray post draft this combo are 45m

BI at 33m + Daniels 5m = 38m

I personally don't like it.

Ingram will be at $36M once the new basketball year starts.

Which is Murray & OO combined salary before the new year. Hawks don't extend BI till next season they can shave the combined 14m salary bump Murray & OO will get while netting draft capital if the deal is completed before the new year. With NO's being a capped team, they would have to add 14m in salary to the deal & Hawks won't get any potential savings out of it being at or near the luxury tax

Hawks trading OO for picks while opening, 14m with the cost of the unexpected #1 @ 12m.

Sarr or Clingan at #1. With Capela a temporary backup.

There's been no chatter that the Nets are interested in Ingram. Given NOLA's unwillingness to pay him, he's a strong candidate to hit FA.There's no way the Nets would make a big offer for someone they can potentially sign a year later.

That being said, CamJ plus one of DFS, Schroder or Sharpe would meet salary matching requirements and allow the Pels to land more reasonably priced depth in exchangefor a player that's clearly not part of their future. I think the Nets would love to first jump at a deal that costs minimal or no picks.

I'd do the OP and I'd sign Ingram longterm. I think he's good enough and young enough that you could still trade him later for value if the fit didn't work out, and I think he'd fit our roster well. But he's on an expiring contract and comes with considerable injury and flight risk, so I wouldn't pay more than the OP. If NO can get a better offer than what's in the OP, they should take it.
