They went through a team missing or with an injured Jimmy Butler, DMitch, Jarret Allen, and Tyrese Hali. 2019 Raps went through Embiid Butler Giannis and Curry.

Raptors ring was one of the best. They are the best team of the past 5 champions imo

Pacers and Nets did win multiple ABA titles before the merger. I know you're counting NBA only, just sayin'.

It would be cool and entertaining if the NBA allowed teams to determine the distance of the three point line for home arenas. That is until it's gamified into the analytically optimal distance.

Is anyone else getting bored of the NBA product? I don't think I can watch offenses that are reversed engineered from the standpoint of highest efficiency any longer.

If Shaq is playing the team would choose either a 3pts line under the basket (3 pts dunks) or beyond halfcourt (no attempt)?
"But the thing is, maybe I do want to wake up one morning and say, `Baby, let's go to the Bahamas. Today.' That costs money. So what if I want to do that?

How did I miss this?

Remember that when a team takes back even $1.00 more than it sends out in trade, it triggers a hard cap at the first apron (projected to be $178.7 million) for 2024-25, even if the deal is done before July. For instance, the Thunder are limited to the first apron by taking in Caruso, who earns more than Giddey.

It’s irrelevant for most teams but was something I didn’t realize. Yet another wrinkle.

So this past offseason a few coaches have been hired:

Jordi Fernandez Brooklyn
Charles Lee Charlotte
JJ Reddick LA
Kenny Atkinson Cleveland

All finalists for the head coach role in Toronto. Other than maybe Reddick, they all didn't take 1-2 months to be hired.

I wonder who will be more successful than Darko. Two went to playoff teams and Lee and Jordi are on similar type of rebuilds like Toronto.

 not quite. Within reason, of course. Elimination of the corner 3. Or maybe +/- 3 feet or so. I'm thinking along the lines of the varying home run distance across the MLB.

I think change is necessary. The game is getting optimized into the 2 inch range of motion competition bench press. You know, with the absurd back arch.

To me, the games are unwatchable.
Way too many 3’s, and every team plays exactly the same.
Larry Bird would be standing at the 3 point line all game. Magic Johnson would just drive and kick out for a corner 3 (like Lebron).
Gotta get rid of the corner 3, or limit the number of 3 point attempts, or both.

It's why I want Edey.

We can't hit lots of 3's anyways, so dump it in for lots of dunks for 2....lol. Change the game again!

I feel you. It's like a meta being established in a video game. Everyone follows the same build. Creativity is discouraged. Right now, all the incentive lies in perimeter shooting. You even have a way better chance of drawing a foul as a jump shooter than someone driving into the paint, despite it being way lower risk.

I still follow the game out of habit, but I watch way fewer games than I used to. Steph really ruined the game. His shooting is actually electric and is greatly supplemented by his off-ball movement. Everyone else right now is a pale imitation.

I said last summer how they hired a group of no name assistants for Darko. Or at least lacking an experienced former head coach or NBA player. Mazzula had Cassel and Lee. Now Ty Lue has added JVG, Darvin Ham goes to Milwaukee, even Thibs added Mo Cheeks. JJ is bound to add experience, not sure yet about coach Bud and Atkinson but probably will. But the Raps still don't have that kind of assistant.

Boston may get off to a slow start with Porzingas missing plus the championship hangover

This is now a major rebuild situation, so I don't know if there are any interested coaches other than ones with limited experience.
