He could lead lineups without Embiid on the floor keep the team ticking with his ability to run the offense as a playmaker and scorer.
He's 6'8 with a +++ wingspan and has the ability to be a defensive presence. Players shoot 34.8% against Ingram in ISO. Ingram is was also 70th percentile for defensive EPM last season (Demar Derozan was 50th percentile).
He's 26!
In terms of his blend of impact, scoring, passing, age and size - Ingram is the easiest candidate available that has the likelihood of establishing himself as a bargain a year or two down the line.
As per EPM last season, Ingram was sandwiched directly between Bam Adebayo and Pascal Siakam. Demar was between Mark Williams and Goga Bitadze.
Shouldn't be a debate.
And the "MVP-caliber" player in New Orleans is sitting just above Bam (a mere 0.1 higher than Ingram).
I like how much you dislike me calling Zion an MVP caliber player. His sophomore year was statistically magnitudes better than any season Ingram has put out. If he was able to stay healthy, he'd be in the same conversation at Doncic, SGA, etc as guys who are next in line to be MVP.
