Not netting a top 5 pick in isolation. It's a pick downgrade, but the Pistons would be staying in the first half of the draft and acquiring a talent upgrade in Herro over Stewart. Detroit really suck, need shooting/spacing and to start winning some games.

Cunningham
Herro
Thompson
?
Duren

Is a starting point. Perhaps they like someone like da Silva at 15 to plug in there? Who knows, they might target Miles Bridges (who went to Michigan State) in FA to give them some scoring punch in the frontcourt too.

The whole premise sounds so flawed and lopsided in our favor. They are already rumored to trade for THJ and his one year remaining which would then give the Mavs the ability to use the MLE. They will be compensated for that.

Again this sounds so unlikely and unrealistic that they would voluntarily take on Herro and his 30 mil and give up the 5th pick? If anything we would need to use the 15th pick as compensation for them taking him off our roster and thus getting us out of the tax. Addition by substation. The irony of talking about the Pistons needing to win games and trading for Herro is not lost here

The Pistons won 14 games last season. 17 the season before that.

You don't think adding Herro and another FA gets them some more wins and allows them to start building?

I get Herro is a polarising player, but he's not a scrub. He would help Detroit. They are equal dead last in the NBA in 3's per game, and Herro averages over 3 per game on good %.

Perhaps it is lopsided a bit in our favour, but Detroit isn't exactly a FA hotbed at the best of times, let alone when they're getting spanked every game. Herro being under contract for a few years actually could be perceived as a positive for them.

This. Heat FO doesn’t do a damn thing period, always on vacation so this is most likely

Utah at No. 10 and Sacramento at No. 14 both worked out Edey and reportedly were impressed, both are looking for a defensive center to soak up some minutes. If Edey drops to 15, the Heat might grab him, although it’s unlikely Edey will get past the Trail Blazers at 14 (unless they draft a center at 7 or make an unexpected move).

Not true, but this is certainly not the draft to trade up in.

Depends on how high they are on certain guys ultimately. Average pundits might consider it a flat draft, but the Heat might view it differently.

If they absolutely love Devin Carter and view him as integral to our next build, back them in to make the right call. Likewise if it's Collier, McCain, Topic or whoever we end up drafting. Scouting team has earned the benefit of the doubt, they make good calls the vast majority of the time. No team has a flawless track record in that department, but the Heat are better than most.

Isn't Walker Kessler a defensive center? Why would Utah want to draft Edey in that case?

Sacramento makes some sense given Sabonis isn't a plus defender, but you're still drafting Edey with a view of him being a 15 minute a night backup if that's the case.

After this Mikal Bridges trade, this Heat build is beyond cooked. Please trade Jimmy to give him once last chance to win

I think its time to heavily consider moving Butler.. with the current assets we have, there isnt a move we could pull out of our ass that will have me thinking we are contenders or an improvement from last season.. we are old in some areas, we are unathletic.. we lack shooting.. time to make a move and shake things up..

How come Patrick didnt trade 4 unprotected picks for Bridges?

Nah but in all seriousness its an interesting move. Im not sure just how big the gap is between OG and Mikal but I guess they’re all in on the Nova build.

I suspect they re-sign OG and ship out Randle. They want lower usage 3&D guys around Brunson.

Knicks going all in. It either wins them a title, or it bankrupts them for eternity.

Such is life, I guess.

4 unprotected picks of their own, 1 via Milwaukee, and a pick swap for Mikal Bridges. Sheesh.

Lol comical amount of assets spent for a borderline all star. This reeks of desperation from the Knicks

If the Knicks can keep OG, they can rival the Celtics in the east imo.

Brunson, Bridges, OG, Randle + good supporting role players is a legit championship contender. Hate to say it.

Definitely a big spend and overpay.

However, if you look at it from the Knicks POV:

- 1 game away from the ECF despite injury-riddled roster

then this move makes a lot of sense. Acquiring Bridges to be the 'man' would be a disaster. Acquiring Bridges to be the 2nd / 3rd option could work out extremely well. This move kind of reminds of me when the Bucks made the trade for Holiday and everyone ridiculed them for the overpay.
