Paul George Continues To Seek Four-Year Deal

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Tue Jun 25, 2024 5:58 pm

Paul George continues to seek a four-year deal whether from the Los Angeles Clippers or another team he can join as a free agent or via an opt-in-and-trade, sources tell Marc Stein. George turned 34 in May.

The Clippers previously signed Kawhi Leonard to a three-year, $152 million extension, which indicated the preference of the franchise.

Most around the league believe the preference of George is to remain with the Clippers. George is from the Los Angeles area and was traded to the Clippers from the Oklahoma City Thunder in 2019.

George is represented by Aaron Mintz

Noone wants to be the stalking horse and left at the altar.. At the end of the day PG has trade value so even if clippers sign and trade the man its a better outcome..

Also, I don't hear a demand for the maximum possible dollars over that time. It looks like Kawhi's deal was a flat 35% in year one with no raises. If PG did that over 4-years, the 4th year would be around 26% of the cap.

What this ultimately comes down to is: I believe a championship team can have an old vet or two, Horford for example. But if your main three guys are old and beaten up your chances dwindle.

If this is a headline, it means PG wants to stay and he wants the Clips to up their offer.

Better send that memo to the Lakers.

Remember 5 years ago when everyone said they'd win multiple titles. ahahahha! The flippers are hard capped, aging, have no draft capital and no young players to build on. Being in that position is worsef than being a bottom feeder like detroit and washington. It's very on brand

While PG might not be able to get a better than Kawhi, I am sure he will still wound up with a pretty sweet deal at the end of the day

Lebron and AD are way healthier than Kawhi, Harden and PG... but I wouldn't consider them contenders. It would take a pretty major roster shakeup to get them there.
