Nets get more picks, Dallas get DFS with Nuggets
Dallas trade: Dwight Powell, Dante Exum, Tim Hardaway Jr, 2025 2nd (via TOR), 2028 2nd (via CHA or LAC)
Dallas receive: Dorian Finney-Smith
Why: Mavs trade 3 players they don't want/need + 2 good 2nd round picks for DFS and 8.4 mil in cap space to resign DJJ.
Brooklyn trade: Dorian Finney-Smith, Day'Ron Sharpe
Brooklyn receive: Tim Hardaway Jr, Zeke Nnaji, Reggie Jackson, #28 from Denver, 2025 2nd from Denver, 2025 2nd (via TOR) from Dallas, 2028 2nd (via CHA or LAC) from Dallas
Why: Nets started collecting draft picks. They get 1st in this draft and 3 2nds for 2 players they don't need. Nanji's contract is bad but declining. Nets also get 13 mil in cap space for 2025-26
Denver trade: Zeke Nnaji, Reggie Jackson, #28 (draft day trade), 2025 2nd
Denver receive: Dwight Powell, Dante Exum, Day'Ron Sharpe
Why: for 2 players they don't want + 1st and 2nd, Nuggets get 3 bench players to fill positions of need and 2.9 mil in cap space to resign KCP and stay under 2nd apron

The Nets still need to avoid the luxury tax this year so I think this deal has too much money coming back and not enough compensation.

Sharpe is a very good prospect on a rookie deal
If we’re going full tank then Claxton should be moved via S & T

Nets are in specific position because they don't have their own picks, so there is no reason to tank. Rebuild have to be made through other teams picks. So, the question for each player (Claxton) is what is bigger value for future, his contribution or potential picks they can get.
As for money balance Keita Bates-Diop (2.6 mil) can be added to Dallas package.

Not enough back to Nets. DFS for Hardaway and 25 FRP with light protections is nice and simple. Pick should be 20+.

They do now; they got them back from Houston. With all those 1sts though, I'm not sure how much they value a bunch of extra 2nds as there are going to be roster space and playing time issues.

I can answer the question in bold for you, pretty much zero. The price Marks had been putting out there on DFS at the trade deadline was 2 FRPs. He has less control now and obviously not all FRPs are created equal, and now Nets are in a very different competitive situation (tanking firesale) - so I think it will end up being 1 FRP projected in the 20 range, but Marks has proven time and again he's good at extracting value in trades. I'd comfortably bet a lot he won't settle for 2nds.
It's possible he has interest in a recent FRP (like O-Max) and less focused on protected future picks now that they have so many picks. But yeah I'm betting more than 1 of DFS/CamJ/Schroder are on contenders by EOD and Nets have even more FRPs one way or another.

If I'm DAL I'd go after Cam for the talent play though I get it go wings.

Salary difference makes it tougher for Dallas to go for Cam instead of DFS. As to which player, I'd take DFS. He makes corner 3's and defends better than Cam and of course is a Luka guy. Add in the salary and its an easy choice for Dallas.

If a raise of about $3m is all it takes to keep KCP, I really doubt he’d be opting out.

Better defender yes. Not anywhere near the same shooter especially on corner 3s. Cam literally shot the ball in every zone per NBA.com stats.
Overall 3s
Cam 39.1% on 6.1 3PA
DFS 34.8% on 4.9 3PA
Corner 3s
Cam 45.8% on 2.1 3PA
DFS 34.7% on 1.8 3PA
They have contracts to make it work. Idk what the draft compensation required would be so that could be the sticking point.

Yes, I know Cam is a better shooter.

It's a financial issue primarily. And since DFS is playable offensively and better defensively its easy to choose the guy who gives them more money to invest elsewhere...

Of course he will opt out to sign long term contract with Nuggets or somebody else. I think Nuggets offer can be pretty good. A raise of $3m in 2024-25 salary is what can give him 4/80 contract. Or to be precise he opts out of $15.44 mil, sign for starting salary of $17.8. Something like $17.8/$19.2/$20.7/$22.4. Contract ends when he is 35 years old.

for comparation 3 2nds Nets got from Suns in Royce O'Neale trade were from Bucks and 2 from Memphis, all can fall in 50+ range

Re: Nets get more picks, Dallas get DFS with Nuggets
Last modification to this trade - Day'Ron Sharpe stays in Brooklyn, Keita Bates-Diop goes to Mavs
Dallas trade: Dwight Powell, Dante Exum, Tim Hardaway Jr, 2025 2nd (via TOR), 2028 2nd (via CHA or LAC)
Dallas receive: Dorian Finney-Smith, Keita Bates-Diop
Why: Mavs trade 3 players they don't want/need + 2 good 2nd round picks for DFS, Keita Bates-Diop and 5.7 mil in cap space to use to resign DJJ.
Brooklyn trade: Dorian Finney-Smith, Keita Bates-Diop
Brooklyn receive: Tim Hardaway Jr, Zeke Nnaji, Reggie Jackson, 2024 1st (#28) from Denver, 2025 2nd from Denver, 2025 2nd (via TOR) from Dallas, 2028 2nd (via CHA or LAC) from Dallas
Why: Nets started collecting draft picks. They get 1st in this draft and 3 2nds for 2 players they don't need. Nanji's contract is bad but declining. Nets also get clear 7.2 mil in cap space for 2025-26
Denver trade: Zeke Nnaji, Reggie Jackson, 2024 1st (#28 draft day trade), 2025 2nd
Denver receive: Dwight Powell, Dante Exum
Why: for 2 players they don't want + 1st and 2nd, Nuggets get 2 bench players to fill positions of need and 6.9 mil in cap space to resign KCP and stay under 2nd apron
Dallas trade: Dwight Powell, Dante Exum, Tim Hardaway Jr, 2025 2nd (via TOR), 2028 2nd (via CHA or LAC)
Dallas receive: Dorian Finney-Smith, Keita Bates-Diop
Why: Mavs trade 3 players they don't want/need + 2 good 2nd round picks for DFS, Keita Bates-Diop and 5.7 mil in cap space to use to resign DJJ.

O'neale is a lesser player who had a couple months of control left. #28 and 2 seconds isn't far off even in a weak draft, but I expect the Nets do better.

I agree Royce is worst player that is why the Nets recived what they got for him. Will DFS command more than bad 1st, in a draft Nets don't have any picks, great 2nd and could be very good 2nd? If Nets somehow pull that off great for them.
BTW there was rumor Bulls were trying to get 2 1sts for Caruzo, but I never heard anybody offered that.
