Way too early to tell what the roster will look like for the Knicks. Their best case scenario is resign OG, trade Randle for bench depth. Worst case is lose OG, and Randle play selfishly, and Brunson injuried due to over use.

Hartenstein was key last season and may not be there. I think the Knicks can only give him a contract for around $17m, and they just gave Mitchell Robinson a contract recently.

This team isn't beating the Celtics or a healthy Giannis.
They don't have the star power to do it.
Can you imagine Holiday and White hounding Brunson for a series? Or having to guard Giannis with Mitchell Robinson?
Lol give me a break.

The Knicks need a point forward instead of Randle chucking. The team has a good 7 man unit but they need a better coach.

There is no way that OG is going to stay, and I feel like moving for Bridges they either knew OG was leaving, or they are just dumb.
I personally think OG is the superior player of the 2 of them, but OG wanted out of Toronto because he didnt like being 3rd option, Now he would be the 3rd or 4th again.
No Thibs team has ever been an offensive juggernaught, but lets look at shot distribution. LAst season team took 89fga. Looking
Brunson - 21.5 fga (more in playoffs)
Randle - 18
Bridges - 15
DDV - 12.5
Hart - 8.5
Thats 75.5 shots right there for just 5 guys.
Lets assume 15 shots per game from your 6-8 guys combined and you are already taking more shots than last season, and that is without OG.
NYK knows OG is leaving, and they must be hoping on a S&T for a couple of picks or something, there is no way they keep both players.
Honestly, I NYK loses both OG and Hartenstein (Orlando) this offseason. So they moved a boatload of picks to move laterally from OG to Bridges.
So where is OG going to sign this offseason where he’s a second option or better? The team most heavily rumored to offer him a big deal is Philly where he’d have even less of a role in the offense than with NY. Not sure why some are saying OG is leaving. People think the Knicks traded away two young players for OG without realizing they’d have to pay him. His agent is Rose’s son for goodness sake. He’s staying and will be a part of the best defensive in the NBA. The Knicks are clearly contenders after this move and they gave up a ton. Both can be true.
I think Philly goes after George.
So it leaves Orlando, Utah, SAS
Orlando be second to Paolo
Spurs second to Wemby
Jazz 1b to Lauri 1a
I personally really like Orlando and Spurs for OG and cannot see why he would sign on to fight for shots and minutes with Bridges, DDV, Randle, Hart when he can just move to play with Wemby and make a savage duo, or move to play with Paolo and make a savage duo.
I cannot see how either is a less attractive landing spot than NYK right now. Orlando is an exciting team, young, great state to live in.
Spurs got Wemby, Pop and also is a great state to live in.

Maybe he is, I just dont see it.
Feels like management know this as well, which is why they overpaid for Mikal. Need someone to replace OG and had to spend to get it.

They need another option offensively that is as good or better than Brunson. The Bridges trade feels redundant for what they already have on the roster, they’re going to need a legitimate second scorer.
Spent a lot for something they probably didn’t truly need.

Slow down here
The Celtics had healthy Porzingis in the RS.
No Porzingis in the playoffs (which at this point is probably expected, sadly) and they showed major cracks against Indy.
Very fortunate that every team they played had their best player completely injured or significantly hobbled.

Lists like this shouldn't be taken as gospel, but if they manage to keep Hartenstein and OG, then they'll be the only team in the NBA with 7 top 100 players.
Now, by this same list, BOS has the best player (Tatum ranked #5 compared to Brunson at #11) and then BOS has 4 more players (Brown #15, White #37, Holiday #38, Porzingis #42) show up before the next Knick (Randle #45). So they'd still be rightly favored, but Knicks have established themselves as a clear #2 in the East IMO. And closer to BOS at #1 than whoever is #3.
I'm skeptical they're going to be able to keep both OG and Hartenstein though. They'd have to salary dump Mitch Robinson most likely to keep all of these guys and that still requires both OG and Hart taking decent sized paycuts to stay. Seems inevitable they lose one. Or maybe they salary dump Randle to accommodate keeping both.
The key for them is going to be PHI. They have a real shot to outbid NY for Anunoby. If they manage to steal him with a $40-45M offer, that undoes a lot of the positives of this move for NY.
Embiid is just so much better than anybody on the Knicks, Brunson is closer to Maxey than he is to Embiid. Sixers have a chance to leapfrog the Knicks with a good move. Knicks still have to sign OG , if OG somehow ends up on the Sixers then even with Nova Knicks its a disaster.
And yet, Embiid couldn’t get past them. Even with Maxey playing on another level.
There’s also the whole Embiid never being healthy enough or having enough stamina to go the full 4Qs angle to it.

Defensively they'll be great but I don't rate Bridges offense enough to think that they still don't live and die by Brunson.
They're returning a 24ppg scorer.
My biggest issue with the Knicks is chemistry. A good problem to have but they almost have too many guys who are scorers now especially with PG likely re-signing so you wonder about chemistry. There's a lot of chefs in that kitchen now.

Can you imagine Giannis being hounded by OG with Mitchell Robinson in the paint to back him up?
Can you imagine OG and Mikal matching up with Tatum and Brown?
Just as easy to spin this the other way around.
As for Brunson vs Jrue/White, I’m sure he’ll be fine.

Why would they trade Randle for bench depth? They already have a deep bench.

knicks were 20-3 with OG playing in the regular season....add Mikal on top of that I think they're more than capable of being a 60 win team.
I don't think they should go all out in the regular season though, 60 win shouldn't be the goal....it should be for Thibs not to overplay his players.

So no moral victories this year right? If they don't compete tough in the conference finals it's a disappointment?

OG and Mitchell Robinson are going to bother Gianiss???

He won't be fine. Its very hard for a small guard to overcome that kind of defensive pressure.

Celtics 16-3 in the playoffs and 4-0 against Indy. Go get some fresh air.
He hates Tatum. That's been clear on the board for a while.
I'm not sure why Mikal Bridges of all people is being looked at on here as KD all of a sudden.

They are contenders. The Celtics aren’t the only East team that are contenders. A lot of factors involved with each of Sixers, Bucks, and Knicks so it’s hard to say who is the best out of this group. Wouldn’t sleep on the Magic and pacers next year too
