I still haven’t completely grasped the Paul Reed strategy. I assumed it was essentially a team option, but I guess they can dump that contract anytime. One report implied they could keep him when they are above the cap, trade him as an $8 million salary, then the other team could dump him. However, if he has an $8 million cap hold, wouldn’t the cap space do the same thing? Or does he not have that cap hold since he is non-guaranteed?

My brother used to cook me with Tony Delk in that game.

Is anyone interested in doing an official predictions thread?

I will start...

I predict KD to the Rockets for the Suns getting their picks back.

CP3 reunion in LAC as part of sign and trade for Paul George.

Warriors lose Klay to the Magic.

Tobias to Detroit.

Mitchell stays in Cleveland.

Ingram traded to Atlanta for Murray.

LaVine stays in Chicago.

OG signs with NYK.

Sixers trade picks for Cam Johnson, then sign Oubre, Lowry, Batum, and Payne back. And the big free agent splash is a backup center and Buddy bring brought back. And for good measure, they trade Reed for future picks.

Embiid/Drummond
Johnson/Batum
Oubre/RCIV
Maxey/Hield
Lowry/Payne

Then Sixers wait for a star to become disgruntled at the deadline.

Morey is infamous for not caring what the opening day roster looks like, and has been very patient and has Nurse, Embiid and Maxey all buying into the plan. He has no pressure until the deadline.

Well that's that.

Remember this the next time someone tries to sell you on cap space.

I don't see Ballmer wanting to help a rival. Also, if Clippers decide to blow it up getting their picks back from us have greater value.

In the NBA there is always more activity than you expect. It's good for at least 3 or 4 major trades every summer that no one expected. You brought in a big game hunting GM to bring a star here. This summer is his last chance. People can say the deadline or next summer, but let's be real, for a variety of reasons after the summer the chances decline considerably. You were brought in to make things happen, get to work.

If they don't want to give him the max, what's the alternative? Lose him for nothing?

I thought he was implying trade him to us instead of GS.

It reinforces for me that people were delusional thinking that we could trade for him.

We probably could have traded for him. New York was just willing to meet Brooklyn's demands which were extremely high. I'm in no way saying we should have traded for him. I'm basically pointing out the fact that he was available and some people on here blatantly refused to believe that he was.

Is that possible if PG doesn't want to be here? I seriously doubt Ballmer would trade him to a place he doesn't want to be. Doesn't usually happen like that in the NBA.

Bridges requested a trade to the Knicks. If he requesed a trade to the Sixers, he'd be a Sixer.

its funny

my bipolar ass is having a fun/hard time of it

on one hand I desperately want us to DO SOMETHING because I am a child and I want flashy moves so I can lie to myself that we are contenders...logic be damned. Jealous as **** that every other team around us always seem to be making moves while we are always in "well wait for next deadline yo" mode.

on the other hand, that type of short sighted bull is exactly why we have **** all assets right now and the "best" plan is to actually just chill.

(the real best plan may be process 2.0 but ownership wants that new stadium and the FO want to save their jobs soooooo)

I’d be doing hand stands if we land him he’s a difference maker. Weren’t the Knicks like 25 and five with him in the lineup last year?

Rockets fans would ask for Rafael Stone's head on a stake if they trade Sengun for Durant, notwithstanding the picks.

I think if the Durant wanting out rumor is real (and it's SAS, so it's probably BS), then this is the type of move that Morey is looking for. He wants superstars, not Mikal Bridges. He's been waiting for guys to be disgruntled with their situation.

Here are 2 other circumstances I could see arising:

If PG goes elsewhere and Harden doesn't get his max contract and moves on, Kawhi would be another guy I could see wanting out.

If Durant is traded, is Booker going to want to stay in Phoenix with no real shot at contending?
