Re: Sixers Offseason Thread Part 2
How many picks would we need to be compensated with to take Beal if the Suns auction off Durant and Booker?

There was a report that a GM said he would give OG 40 mil or something like that. I bet that was Morey.

Yea, I can't see the Knicks letting OG walk now. If somehow that happened and we got him, that would be a great result imo.

Negrodamus wrote:I think if the Durant wanting out rumor is real (and it's SAS, so it's probably BS), then this is the type of move that Morey is looking for. He wants superstars, not Mikal Bridges. He's been waiting for guys to be disgruntled with their situation.
Here are 2 other circumstances I could see arising:
If PG goes elsewhere and Harden doesn't get his max contract and moves on, Kawhi would be another guy I could see wanting out.
If Durant is traded, is Booker going to want to stay in Phoenix with no real shot at contending?
4 picks are not gonna be enough for Durant or Booker, especially if Bridges' value was 6 picks, at that point, you need another team involved.

It reinforces for me that people were delusional thinking that we could trade for him.
We probably could have traded for him. New York was just willing to meet Brooklyn's demands which were extremely high. I'm in no way saying we should have traded for him. I'm basically pointing out the fact that he was available and some people on here blatantly refused to believe that he was.
How could we have gotten him? He got traded for more picks than we could even legally offer. I think the trade really confirmed that we didn’t have a chance to get him. The only rationale that would support your point would be if the Nets were willing to take a worse deal from us, but Morey didn’t even bother to make an offer. I would assume that wasn’t the case though. They prob wanted to take the best deal, which left us out of the mix. Reports had the Rockets and Jazz also making offers. The Rockets deal was better than ours as well.

I like OG if we are not giving up picks. Does he make us contenders? Prob not, but a significant piece. If we draft well and find other low cost additions, we are in the mix with some improvement.

Not saying you're wrong, but I'd like you to lay out the case for optimism based on the trade market over the past 2 years.
I’m fine with burying Morey after the fact. It just seems nonsensical for the same two posters to repeatedly try to convince us to do an autopsy when the body isn’t cold yet. Come back in July and enjoy your celebratory gotchas then.
27 year old Ingram isn’t the greatest idea ever but there are worst places to be than to have 27 year old Brandon Ingram as our third best player.

Isn’t golden state in the 2nd apron? How are they able to combine salaries to trade for Paul George? And I thought the Clippers couldn’t take back anything in a sign and trade because they are also a 2nd apron team.

wouldn't be a sign and trade if he opts in.

I think it's funny Sixers fans are up in arms over the Bridges trade. I'm left thinking "they went all in for THAT roster?"

I think it is likely more the frustration that we can't go all in on a player like that even if we wanted to (or at least not without getting outbid by a few teams for a top tier player).

Re: Sixers Offseason Thread Part 2
again OG or Ingram is more than fine as the 3rd guy. NOT PERFECT but solid. It puts more on Maxey continuing to develop and Biid to adjust his game or simply be healthy for once but the bulk of the work was always going to be in what is done after the 3rd guy spot was filled.
The dread starts with the growing chance that third guy is Cam Johnson...which while he is fine is def a couple of steps down from the above imperfect options
which again is why putting all your eggs into the cap space basket was super risky

I think I’d prefer to sign Derozan and trade for Bodganavic from ATL than trade for Ingram or sign OG to a max

Correct. Like I said about Durant, I could see us using cap space to yield another pick to send in a trade.
I think Markkanen can be possibly attainable, but it'll be for a superstar type haul.

I thought he was implying trade him to us instead of GS.
Is that possible if PG doesn't want to be here? I seriously doubt Ballmer would trade him to a place he doesn't want to be. Doesn't usually happen like that in the NBA.ExplosionsInDaSky wrote:New York was just willing to meet Brooklyn's demands
Bridges requested a trade to the Knicks. If he requesed a trade to the Sixers, he'd be a Sixer.
There has been no report that PG13 does not want to come here. He is reported as wanting a max deal. We will give it to him.
If he opts out and does a S&T Ballmer would send him here before GS. If he opts in to allow a trade to happen, again we win out over GS from an asset standpoint.

How's that? He got traded for significantly more than what we have to offer.
