This would be hilariously short-sighted for the Rockets. Jesus.

Wouldn’t put it past Durant. But Gambo’s getting ticked.

I love Bam as a player and think he's pretty much the only player that stands a chance defensively squaring up against Giannis 1v1 but 55 million for what a top 25ish player........ That just can't end up being a contract that doesn't sink your chances

We're in this weird new NBA world. Most of the teams believe the new TV contracts will push the cap up perhaps 40-50% over a three year period. And it feels like anyone close to a contender needs to spend $150 to $250 million to retain their "stars".

Bam is still young and valuable. The Paul George and Jimmy Butler extensions feel like they might turn out like Blake Griffin's last contract however.

Just another one of those "you had to pay them" contracts. Too many people keep judging player value in a vacuum as opposed to weighing the alternatives. Same with the Scottie Barnes deal.

I mean I don't think they were forced, I'm sure they were happy to pay their cornerstone. He is really good. Great deal on both sides

I'm convinced teams sign some of these guys to contracts that they do just to have that salary slot to use in a trade.

Also, it's kind of like QBs in the NFL. Next QB to sign probably isn't worth being the highest paid, but a lot of times they are because that's just how it goes. In the NBA guys get max deals because that's just how the system works, not because Bam deserves to get paid as annually much as Jokic and Steph.

A year ago Barnes deal would have seemed crazy. But to Barnes credit he moved his 3pt % from 28% to 34%. And improved in literally every statistically category by a material amount.

That said, to Ryan's point, it is sort of like NFL QB's with your cornerstone players. On that note, I wish we could have gotten two seasons out of Jordan Love before needing to pay up. Barnes 2nd season really cemented him.

Isn't owners vote of confidence the death knell?
Amos Barshad: "So you got a job, a place to live, a license? What’s left?"

Giannis: “Nothing. Just get a ring now.”

For coaches, yes. But I can’t see Ishbia being this stupid, even though he tests the theory monthly.

If OG signs with the Knicks as reported, that is one of the more impressive “build it without burning it down first” roster work in a recent span.

I guess history tells us guys will start to break down physically and mentally after a few years of playing for Thibs.

Return to Milwaukee Bucks
