Scott

Grant
Ayton
Edey

Let's get weird ya'll.

I love weirdness... but this would make the Blazers easily the worst perimeter defensive team in the league.

More of a feature than a bug for a tanking team, no?

Yeah, good point. I love the way you think sometimes, Duster

Besides the perimeter D...look at how many players that need the ball to be effective on that team. Scoot. Sharpe. Grant. Ayton. And at least two of them never pass the ball in Grant and Ayton. Edey is a crapshoot--he had the ball a ton because he WAS the offense.

All in all? I love it. Let Ayton flourish as a 4 and sell him while he's high. Get Grant off the team. Be terrible and draft Flagg or Bailey. You're right, getting weird is sometimes the way to go!

Honestly, I'm so jacked for the draft right now. It's my favorite one in a long time...maybe ever.

Same, probably the most interested I've been in the NBA since last offseason. And this being a funky draft actually makes it a lot more fun.

Deandre becomes Amare lite. Actually where he belongs which is the 4 spot imho

I don't see DA chasing stretch 4's along the perimeter for long.
That said, I wouldn't mind them splitting the center minutes, like 28/20.

DA is one of the leagues best mid-range jump shooting bigmen. Not exactly a coveted skill in todays NBA, but it is a thing

As far as selling on Matas - here goes -

He is 6'10 with the fluidity of a SG. His athletic testing was elite for someone his size and he shows functional athleticism on tape as well. He is a super confident kid who really wants to be great, and has a very good work ethic. His shot did not fall last season, but he has a really nice form to his J (And, FWIW, for all the talk on Zaccharie and Cody being great shooters they were 70 and 71 from FT - Matas was 69). He is a tremendous weakside shotblocker and can get up off 1 or 2 feet when going for putbacks on offense or getting vertical on defense.

People key in on the shooting metrics from last season thinking that he is a shooter, but he is much more of an athlete than a shooter at this stage. I think its b/c he is white and european that people see the 3PT shot and think 'this shooter cant shoot' rather than 'this elite athlete with prototypical size isnt yet a shooter too'. FWIW, he is skinny but has wide shoulders and should fill out well.

Alot of my analysis comes down to, can I see this kid playing minutes late in a playoff game (With the caveat that I dont apply the same level of scrutiny to C's as true switchy guys are absurdly uncommon). If Matas can get his shooting there, he absolutley can. He wont be targeted on defense as he can switch well due to his mobility.

If he 'hits' he can be Detlef. I dont see any player in this class being better than a Detlef level guy, so I have him #1.

I was going to mention DA as a 4 but I get enough crap on here for my ideas lol but I saw a while ago that he played pf in college. Since he likes to shy away from contact and isn't that great close to the rim I think he'll be ok as a traditional pf next to Edey.

I won't be mad if we get Matas as long as we get Edey. I think he shows a not of 2 way ability and I like his attitude. I think Knecht will be fun to watch though and I prefer him. Literally the only guy that's turned out to be decent from ignite is Jalen Green so I have reservations whereas knecht seems like a sure thing. Also I love his underdog story, he elevated his game from no one to a lottery pick and I see a lot of Dame in his mentality. I don't see why he won't continue to improve at the pro level and I think he'd be a nice compliment to Shaedon. He needs to improve his defense, so I'd give Matas the edge there.

Matas and Edey is my absolute dream.

I can see it working for short stretches on offense. But it'll be hard on defense to cover modern PF's beyond the arc.
Then again, I said the same thing about KAT-Gobert, and that worked out pretty well on both ends. Of course, KAT is one the best shooting 7 footers of all time, and Gobert is a HOF defender. Neither is true of DA / Edey or Clingan.

I dont think Dilly going in the lotto would be a surprise. Going like Top-5 would though.

I’d be so disappointed if those were the picks.

There is a thought that Dillingham might be the one player who could be a star.

I remain skeptical Clingan will get to 7. Memphis will likely find a way to get to 5 to get Clingan. I
would not mind a Buzelis/Edey draft

The amount of Edey hate on twitter is wild. No one has presented a rational argument anywhere that i can find why he won't be a good player, in fact most "experts" are sold on him.

I feel like Clingan is a sure thing at 7 for them and I'm gonna try not to be too upset but I know i will be. It's Zach Collins/Meyers Leonard all over again. I want to watch a 7'5 freak of a human dunk 10x a game on the other teams center. That just sounds fun.

I want to see other centers shy from contact with our behemoth.

I really hope DET trades out of 5. Think that gives us a much higher chance to snagging Matas.

Or hell, move Grant + 14 + 34 for 5 and just snag Matas 5 and Edey 7. Then use Reath + 40 to move up to 30 w/ Boston.

5 - Matas Buzelis F
7 - Zach Edey C
30 - Nikola Djurisic F

Yes plz.

More and more smoke that the Blazers are zeroing in on Knecht according to Marang, Salaun likely going 6 to Charlotte based on latest intel everyone is getting.

If true, lets fingers cross Knecht isn't another Josh McRoberts...

I would be very happy with that.

I think it's a no brainer to trade Grant for 13.

If We don't get Edey I hope SA gets him because that would be the most unique 4/5 in history.

I suppose. Not the swing I want, but I guess if you're just going for a solid base hit... Knecht is fine. Would rather bigger swings, Simmons has him as a possible ROY candidate, so something I guess.
