I am not completely in support of or against any moves.

All I ask is that if we are going to make a big or even adequately sized move we do it now and not wait until right before the season starts. Makes it hard for a player to get acclimated to the new situation.

If you are going to trade Khris or Lopez, trade them between June or July, or don't trade them all. I think we can win the title with this team as is with a small piece or two. I would like Pat Bev back if he will sign for the league minimum, if not then I am good.

Just stay health and allow Andre Jackson and AJ Green to continue to develop.

Of course I'd do this.

Actually, we can combine players, we just can't combine them to get a singular more expensive player.

Is that true? We could do a 2 for 2 trade?

if the salaries are right we could do 2 for 2 or 3 for 3 or whatever else

Correct.

Confusion on what aggregating salaries means has been an ongoing nuisance since I started delving into the depths of the CBA. And the draconian restrictions now present in the current CBA have only exacerbated matters.

People equate restrictions on aggregating salaries as meaning that "the Bucks can only send out one player in a trade" while over the second apron.

Not true.

We can send out multiple players in a trade as long as we'd be able to break apart the trade into components that work on their own.

So if we would legally be able to do two trades of A for B, and C for D, then we would be able to do one trade of A+C for B+D. We can also receive more players than we are sending out, if, once again, the components of the trade would work if done separately. So if legally we'd be able to trade A for B and C for D+E, then we can do one trade of A+C for B+D+E. The second apron also restricts us from taking back even $1 more in a trade than we send out. We can take back less salary than we send out, but not more. We cannot send out two players for 1 if the player we are receiving makes more than just 1 of the players we send out. If we can legally trade A for B and C for no player in return (the other team would need a large enough traded player exception, disabled player exception, or enough cap space, to absorb the salary of player C, and then can send us a draft pick and/or cash instead of a player), then we can trade A+B for C+cash/pick(s).

Unfortunately, whatever team we would be trading with might have their own restrictions to deal with. They could be under first apron restrictions, second apron restrictions, or hard capped at either apron, because they chose to use one or more exceptions that trigger a hard cap, or made a trade that triggers the hard cap, etc.

"Bucks can only include one player in a trade" is just not accurate

GAD - looking for definitive answers on these:

1) How far over the 2nd apron are we now (June 26th)
2) If we move MarJon to a team with space does that get us under the 2nd apron?
3) If we get under the 2nd Apron, we can then have greater flexibility on deals, but we can still move back over the 2nd Apron after said future deal occurs.....and then all the restrictions pile back on for future moves, correct?

I read OG is a free agent. He would do wonders for the Bucks.

This 2nd apron thing is almost a hard cap. Hard for a team to function or make changes without shedding salary.

The Wiggins for Portis rumor is DOA. Both are second apron teams

Here we go. On paper Wiggins is a perfect fit next to Dame so I see why they would want it. Throw in Dame and bring back Curry too!

Dyson Daniels is also a type of guy I'd love us to go after. Don't think it would take a ton and I could see him making a good jump this year

1) Where we are at now is irrelevant to any trades made now during the 2023-2024 season, as the date when our 2nd apron status was locked in for the remainder of this season was the date of the last game we played. At that time, we were over 2nd apron. There is literally nothing we can do that would bring us under 2nd apron. We can still make moves today and through the end of June 30th that could help us get under the 2nd apron for the 2024-2025 season (that starts July 1st but no trades can be actually made at that point until the July Moratorium is over, although they could be agreed to in a non-binding way), but that will not have any effect on our 2nd apron status through June 30th.

2) As stated above, no for 2023-2024 season. For 2024-2025 season, just dumping MarJon's salary wouldn't be enough, as we will have a few cap holds in place, for empty roster spots, and for unsigned draft picks (unless we trade the picks, but then that creates additional empty roster spot cap holds). I don't have the exact number at the moment, but at a quick glance, we will need to decrease team salary by roughly $6+ mil to get under 2nd apron for 2024-2025

3) Greater flexibility for sure. As for moving back over the 2nd apron, that depends on what we did while we were below it. Some things that can be done once getting under the second apron also hard cap you at the second apron, if you do those things.

Is @NBATradeReport Legit?

They're reporting that the Bucks and GSW are talking Bobby/Filler for Wiggins.

I guess if both teams make moves on July 1st to get under the 2nd apron.

Really don’t want Wiggins. But if they’d toss in Moody, might be worth kicking the tires on.

Therefore one would infer that it's not true.

Would need a third team to let both teams send salary out, but also neither team can pay out cash in a trade.

Of course I'd do this.

I Don't like it at all. You're trading a starter for two players who are fringe rotational playoff players. I guess Daniels is young enough to consider him as a prospect in the draft but even still that would be Nance, a lotto pick, and #21 for Lopez and #33. I think Lopez is more valued.
