i mean comparing reed to guys who shot 40% is like lumping 38% shooters in with 30% shooters

First question I ask Reed as a GM in a pre-draft interview is "Why didn't you shoot it more?"

If he's hitting over 50% why is he not just letting it **** fly?

What's his hit rate with a defender near him vs open? I've been dubious of his ability to manufacture his open shots like you see from guys like Steph or Lillard.

I still get a very strong belief that he doesn't have the wiggle/handle or length/height to create those looks, which sort of neutralizes that shooting.

Great question. If I’m Reed I’m throwing it back at coach Calipari and saying I wanted to but was told to operate within the team system.

here's part of your answer

https://pbs.twimg.com/media/GRAgFqFXMAAoCPd?format=jpg&name=large

56% on open 3s
49% on contested
50% off dribble
48% on deep 3s
only took 1 step back... he made it
4% bad misses

He doesn't have any shooting metric that isn't elite.

Obviously he isn't going to do that in the NBA, because if he does he's basically poor mans Steph.

But even if he declines by 10% across the board, he's still borderline elite.

If he's JJ Redick with passing/defense, that's pretty great for this draft.

the gravity that having that level of shooter on the floor creates is every bit as valuable as his actual shooting. the amount of space that creates for melo, miller and miles to operate would be very helpful

Wait aren't Melo/Miller already considered good shooters?

Who's playing defense with that group?

We also undersized who's guarding Brown/Tatum in the playoffs?

6'1 SG scares me I must admit.

I mean these are the questions we need to ask. Castle question has been about one skill. I have multiple questions about Sheppard.

Negates their size advantage too though.

Other side of that coin: We've built the biggest backcourt in the league, giving at least one of them an advantage every night. Drafting a small dude pushes Miller down a slot and makes it easier to hide small defenders against us.

It also means Melo now has to guard twos. He's already foul happy. It also means Miller has to guard threes, making him potentially more prone to fouling since he's skinny and giving each of them more work to do on the other end.

look, there is no one size fits all solution in this draft
take castle, get size elite defense, some playmaking crater your spacing
take reed, get elite shooting spacing, some playmaking, but you get smaller
repeat for all of them
its a role player draft

lol, who said that melo and miller aren't good shooters? you can have 3+ good shooters on the floor. crazy concept for us hornets fans tho, since we've had a lifetime of bad shooting
but, melo and miller have clean driving lanes, teams can't double off reed, makes everything easier on offense
and you pray that lee can get miller and miles to take a step defensively, mark healthy and some kind of scheme for melo
plus, nobody in this draft is walking into our starting lineup.

Well we better have shooters we're going to have to make a lot of 3's just to stay in the game because Melo/Reed/Miller/Bridges is not stopping anyone lol.

Unlike Castle I'm 100% confident Reed won't be there at 6. If we're trading up with Houston for anyone it's probably him.

I was wrong on this kid. He looks legit!

My only thing is he's a pg. Let him run the show he will be a stud. Rockets got a steal!

Terrence Shannon Jr also looks legit. I had a feeling that kid was going to be a late steal.

Please Tidjane please make us look good tomorrow!

I liked his shiftiness. Dude was faking people out then busting the J. Wish we had traded up for him but I hope TS can grow into something good too.
