This is insane. We were scoffing at the 6th overall for Deni proposals from Memphis fans a few months ago.

We traded him for a couple mid firsts? One that is 5 years down the road…

No justification for this. One of the best contracts in the NBA, a player easy to root for, that we watched grow and develop. Best homegrown player since Beal for #€*@‘s sake.

Not a fan of the deal. Maybe they got word that the Hawks aren't going to pick Risacher and the Wiz will? Plus they have Kispert who also plays the same position. I am just trying to make sense of it all...

I think this is the classic case of a new regime wanting to go with "their guys". Sorry, I know you all really liked Avdija. On the bright side, you get two 1st rounders and I'm sure you'll get more assets after you trade Brogdon at the deadline. Let this new regime cook before judging as hard as that might sound at the moment.

That's a pretty ghastly return to my mind. I will say I brought up Deni being traded a few months ago because it kinda made sense, it's gonna be years and years before we're good, but my projection was that he'd be moved in '25 or '26 IF he was moved, for picks from a better class, this dude is:

*Good
*On an exceptionally cheap contract
*was taken what, top 8 in a better draft in '20.

And so all we get is a top 14 pick in a total --- draft? and some late picks in like 5 years?

Just looks like a horrible trade.

But yeah, one of the reasons I thought we might deal him is because: #1 we are gonna suck for a while (like at least another 3 years) and he's already been here for 4 years of suck, but we literally just extended him, so it's a total WTF?!?! for me. Just not remotely enough in return unless that '29 pick is damn high, and it sounds like it's the worse of 2 they have?

What did they want Deni to do? And with arguably the best non-rookie contract in the NBA, and it's even descending? They better hope Dillingham or Holland is there at 14 and that pick is outstanding.
