Deni was honestly the only Wizard that gave me joy to watch. Every game, I cared more about what he was doing than what the rest of the team did. I'm crushed. What a horrible trade!

Making extreme statements like "only" sounds like there are "no" Jokics in this draft? Jokic is an engine that was drafted in the 2nd round. Always a chance to see diamond dropped by sloppy burgular after a theft.

Avdija is a solid player and obviously good value on his contract, but I said re: someone's theory that anyone that loves Edey has to have a team specifically built around him and I mentioned that I feel like Washington is essentially a blank slate. Avdija, to me, is not a guy you build a team around. I don't think it's very likely Washington has any of those guys right now, so to me, getting a couple 1st and 2nd round picks for him is fine. I get the frustration though; it's going to be another very long season in DC, though I don't think Avdija would have saved us from that fate anyways.

Having said all that, I do feel like there's a decent chance he could have returned more value a year from now.

He’s coming back for certain. This team will be even more unwatchable next year.

All faith in this new FO is gone.

Well, not all my faith, I suggested this might happen this spring, my problem is why on earth are they getting so little for him? He's an ascending player on a dream of a contract, and we're not even getting a top 10 pick for him?!?! That's beyond asinine.

One thing I will underline, this definitely suggests the regime got the approval to tear this down to the studs x100. Because this is only a move you'd make if you're contract secure for the next 3-4 years. This is not a 2 more years and we contend situation. They expect to suck for 3-5, not 2-3.

Those aren't premium firsts, it's a disappointing return. Still giving the front office a lot of rope for finally moving Beal and actually getting positive value but they don't seem to be strong bargainers otherwise.

On the bright side, you get two 1st rounders and I'm sure you'll get more assets after you trade Brogdon at the deadline. Let this new regime cook before judging as hard as that might sound at the moment.

A competent front office should have gotten the #7th pick at the minimum.

This. They are tanking hard hard hard for the top of the 25 draft I guess. That's the only explanation I have. That or we haven't heard all the details, that it is part of another trade the rest of which won't surface until after the draft or something.

I would not have traded Deni for the #1 pick in this draft, much less the #14.

I'd like to try and rationalize this, but there is no rationale. You can tank without trading Deni. Just trade Kuz, refrain from resigning Tyus, and play Bilal and Vukcevic 2000 minutes each.

This is just a very bad move in which they squandered a very good asset. What the F*** are these guys doing???

If the media in this town are any good (they’re not), they’ll press Dawkins and Winger for a lengthy, detailed, no BS explanation.

Just for those who aren't aware, Portland has three picks in 2029. Their own, Milwaukee and Boston.

To me this is more evidence that Kuzma sucks and is completely unmoveable. All talk about other teams wanting him is pure propaganda. My guess is the Wizards wanted to move him but other teams realize that he has delusions way beyond what he should have.

Don’t hate the trade as much as others. Like, Deni and would have preferred to see him stay over Kuzma, but Malcolm is good and may bring in picks later. Also, if the Wizards get Edey at 14, I am going to love this trade.
Viva le tank! At this pace, it will never end.

Just hoping more comes out about the trade later. This one hurts. Was also my favorite player. Didn’t even give him a chance to see what he could become, just starting to breakout.
